As do most people, I love Gregtech's content but not the nerfs it gives us.

I'm not sure if you are qualified to speak for "most people", but I, personally, like that GregTech modifies things to make them less-easy. I wish the balance was a bit better in regards to some things, but it's fairly well done in general, designed to extend the game for most people.

Ah no, I meant that most people don't have a problem with the new feature Gregtech adds. From what I've seen, if people don't like it, it's because of the nerfs.

Ah, in that case, yeah, very few people I've seen have issues with GregTech because of the new features (adding machines/blocks/etc), and because of the changing features (changing the way to make things, etc).

That aside, though, it's decently well balanced for an elongated game, which works well on servers. The nice thing about not having a long time between almost-godmode and the start, in single player, is that you can just make a new map when you get there in a week. On a server, new maps don't usually happen very often.

I guess I just have a different idea of progression than the one Greg does. I like the new blocks he adds (I haven't worked out how to use the centrifuge yet but yeah eventually) and honestly, if I do reach the "endgame" or what others deem to be endgame, that's the worlds that I'm least likely to want to quit. I always take my time and progress at my own pace, and never reach that endgame within a month never mind a week.

With GregTech, it's pretty hard to rush into the end game (having a great deal of iridium on hand) before a month's time at least.

And the industrial centrifuge will be your best friend if you're copper-hungry, although, personally, I dislike it so I don't use it.

I don't rush to endgame as I don't find rushing anything in MC fun. I'm not competing against anyone, so I'd rather take my time and enjoy things. And by enjoy I mean enjoy building, not enjoy mining :p (althought that's not to say I don't enjoy mining, I do sometimes :) )

Yeah I like that part of it and it's always nice to have more content and everything, but I'd prefer if rather than pushing everything further down the line and making it more difficult, i think they should also provide some alternatives to replace what was moved. Like, I'm fine with things being harder to craft, but I'd also like to be able to do something before I do that, you know? That's why I really love the Quartz Grindstone. It's not too amazing, but it's there for the beginning of the game. Same with the iron furnace and project table. Something to bridge the gap between vanilla and endgame. :)

Yeah, but often times people rush because they cannot help themselves. In those cases, GregTech is useful. In your case, it's less useful, but it's still not too bad as it gives you access to building things, and that delicious copper lava 'fuging.

Indeed, a good balance is key, along with things to keep that balance proper. The advanced jetpack is a good example of something that was needed to bridge the jetpack-gravichestplate gap.

Well, personally I don't like that he changes other mods recipies.

BOOM. That's it for me right there. I play other versions of FTB, and sometimes Tekkit Lite. The last thing I need is another mod that goes behind my back and makes crap harder AND more confusing by disabling machines I'm used to (Mass Fabricator) as well as changing up all the blasted recipes.

Do NOT like GregTech.

Do NOT like GregTech.

I dislike the changes to recipies mostly. He has IMHO a very weird opinion on what makes a game challenges and I also disagree with his opinion on what items are 'early game' and which aren't. I think most modders are a lot better at that than he is and therefor find it rather obnoxious that he decides to change the recipies of other mods (that IMHO have a much better time / result balance) to suit his opinion.

He would definitely not have gotten this reputation if he had simply divided his mod into 2: a 'content' mod (which I'm totally fine with) and a "nerf the F out of stuff"-mod which IMHO should die in a fire :)

Aside from that: I am not overly fond of the stuff that he actually adds. It's a bit "meh" in usefullness. IMHO he's trying to add the best parts of a lot of different mods into one "super" mod instead of creating stuff that's really original AND fun. Most mod makes have a clear focus on what they add (look at TC, AE, TE, Forestry) while other mods have less focus. So IMHO the content GT adds makes a lot of sense if you see GT as an addon in a standalone IC2 installation (because the mod is starting to get outdated) but a lot less in a modpack setup where most of the stuff he's adding is already being done by other mods.

And funny enough railcraft does it in a way that makes sense and people don't 'hate' railcraft.

I guess giving you the option to disable it and even select different lvls of difficulty are a bad way of doing things, most of the people that hate gregtech are you surfing the hate wave cuz of the drama imo.......

I'm sorry but we've gone over this before. The reason some people dislike it because they disagree with that having stuff takes longer makes it difficult. It's not about whether it's configurable (if it would not be GT would not even be in ultimate), it's about a mod author that focusses his energy on the (IMHO) wrong things. That's why I dislike that aspect of GT: it's a complete waste of time.

We all are entitled to our opinions like something and i do understand your point of view wich i based on your opinion, but what a "complete waste of time" its for you its a very nice addition to the game for others, but you said it, its already been disscused to the max on other threads.

Then why are you starting a discussing by referencing RailCraft? I'm quite clear that I'm just giving my opinion on GT. You felt the need to compare it to RC setting off yet another discussion.
