Details of the issue I am a new modder that started out with the Direwolf20 modpack. I am mabye early-midgame, setting up a infinite power source, getting into bees, chest sorting and I log on one day and if I break things then it doesn't drop anything, I can't open chests, or use crafting tables ect. I have tried exiting the game and reloading and the same thing happens. THIS IS SO IRRITATING. What should I do? What is a log file? Is it a crash log because the game isn't crashing.

Can you check that you are not in adventure mode.

Bring up nei and change it to cheat mode and check by clicking on the C button and make sure it says survival. There are also commands you can use. Just google that.

I tried changing it to cheat mode using config but cant find the file this is what my config file looks like

So I search my downloads for NEI and get this:

I open it with Notepad and it looks like this:

So I change cheatmode=0 to cheatmode=2

and now I log onto the game and I can't cheat in items. I also press C like Unizero said and it doesn't do anything.

To get to that C you need to change NEI options in game. Open your inventory, bottom left corner of you screen there's s bottom "options" the first button on the list (there's 5 I think) click that should give you a whole bunch of things to pick and choose from. Make sure you have it set from global to world as global generally defaults the options.

That should get you the button you're looking for

Yeah like the above user said it is in game you do this. I never mentioned about changing config files.

Ok I have been going through those when I've gotten stuck on something but thanks anyways!

Just found out what my problem was! So yestarday I opened up and did that stuff and this time instead of just hitting the X button to close it I hit save and exit. I logged on today and everything works! Can't believe I was so dumb
