I really like this modpack, although, I am not so sure about Ender Zoo dirt slimes(heh). They seem to be in the way a lot. I especially like, the lack of Gregtech addon of any kind.
I have noticed several of the mods in this pack are out of date and was wondering if this pack is getting updated soon?
Also I ran the server as is with a setting of 4GB of ram and, a GUI to use, for an hour, with no players.
The result is a regular issue of the "Can't keep up" error.
I do not claim to be any kind of expert with Java or Java script, but a server complaining, when there are no players to cause more work for the CPU, does not seem right.
My system is AMD 8-core cpu, with a 4 Ghtz clock, 16 GB of ram, Ubuntu Linux 64 bit, Java 8, and 1.5 tb Sata hardrive space.
Java 7 has the same results with the no-player server test.
If there is a way to tweak this modpack server, I am open to suggestions.

Tl;dr version is: nope. They're not updating. All manpower is now focused on 1.8.9

As for your questions...

I am not so sure about Ender Zoo dirt slimes(heh). They seem to be in the way a lot.
Disable them in Ender Zoo configs.

I especially like, the lack of Gregtech addon of any kind.
Don't know whether you mean you want GT or not. If GT is wanted, add it to your server and yell at your players to add the file.
If not, well ok then.

I have noticed several of the mods in this pack are out of date and was wondering if this pack is getting updated soon?
You could update them yourself, if you know what you're doing. Again, yell at your players to update their files should you wish to update your server.

Also I ran the server as is with a setting of 4GB of ram and, a GUI to use, for an hour, with no players.
The result is a regular issue of the "Can't keep up" error.

I can´t help on the Java problem, but if you Like Direwolf20 Pack why not taking a look on infinity.
For what I know all 1.7 packs aside of infinity are seen as "finished" and won´t revieve any further updates.

You will need to start over... but if you don´t play in expert mode, this won´t be that hard and it has a lot of other mods in there you may like to explore.

Don't make this a habit ,please :)

As for the performance trouble :
simple, don't let the server program use a gui. It has performance issues as you can see.
just add nogui at the command to start the server and you should be golden.

Thanks for the info on the GUI issues. I never knew.
As for the Dirt Slime,,, I think my Grandson in my profile pic will love it.
Officially I totally hate Gregtech/GT whatever you want to call it and I am very glad it is NOT in the Direwolf20 modpack.
As for Infinity modpack, I have seen the complaints and thanks, but no thanks, I do not like intense, brainy stuff.
I believe Minecraft should be a relaxing distraction from real life, first and a brain exercise second.
So Direwolf20 modpack with a great lowend to enjoy until I get in the mood, for other stuff more enchanting, or technical is perfect.
Thanks so very much for the quick response.

Do keep in mind that Infinity has two separate modes available. The one everyone is raging over is Expert mode, which forces mixed mod recipies and adds some varying levels of grind. It's not for everyone, but I'm glad it's an option. The regular version of the pack is just a large Kitchen Sink pack. The mod list is somewhat different from DW20, but they are based off a similar core of mods.

From what I've read here on the forums, the DW20 pack only updated at the bequest of Direwolf20, the proprietor and namesake of the pack. Since he's buried in testing the upcoming Infinity Skyblock and a major part of the Forgecraft server where new 1.8 mods are being developed and tested, it's unlikely that any further updates will push for the pack. As noted above, you can update the mods yourself, but anyone joining your server would have to match versions to join you.

I looked the Infinity mod list over and because it has a lot of new stuff, I have not tried out yet, plus no Gregtech or GT addon, I will give it a try. cheers

Infinity mod is awesome. Classic low end and recipes, enough enchantments and mystic stuff to make you dizzy, techie stuff to keep you as advanced as you could imagine, all up-to-date mods, mind blowing biomes,,, AWESOME. Very nice job guys. Quote me if you like on an Infinity thread. heh

As for the next version of DW20, Direwolf said (I think it was a recent Forgecraft-1 1.8.9 Server Play video) that the next version of DW20 will come out when the mods are available, and that it may be 1.9 depending on how quickly Forge is completed (MCP is in beta now) and mods roll in.

It looks like updating 1.8.9 mods to 1.9 is relatively easy compared to updating 1.7.10 to 1.8.9... I'm watching a dev livestream new mod development for 1.8.9, and after they hit a milestone they re-factor for the Work-in-progress 1.9 Forge, as a headstart.
