Also, weren't the gravestones turned off in most of the FTB packs a while ago due to said derpiness (as well as occasionally never appearing)?
Ouch. Now that's cruel!Graves were disabled in most packs because if you have a Ti C tool in your inv the grave would delete all of your items.
Probably not. Dig down beneath that spot. If there are open air spaces below your death location, as mentioned earlier in the thread, your grave could be further down.Still haven't gone back to check for my grave... thanks for feedback.
Here's what has me most worried... hard to describe, but when I got to the spot there was an experience orb (?) floating, I believe it was right where my grave should have been. I think that orb thing was tied to my grave. But this "thing" was in a poison water pool, and I didn't have anything on me so I broke some nearby gravel by hand and started to drop it in to fill the water, then I broke the gravel to reveal my grave. Nope. When I dropped gravel on top, the "orb" thing disappeared and when I dug the gravel out my grave wasn't there. So I think I destroyed my own grave by dropping gravel on top of it?
If thats the case, do graves work after creeper deaths, since where you die just turns into a giant crater? It's also possible that it didn't generate a grave, as open blocks does say somewhere that they don't work without a solid block under you. (like if you die in lava or other dangerous liquid) And I dunno, after every pack update for DW 20 I have to keep turning graves back on in my config.
It's inconsistent from my mileage. I've died from creepers and had a grave, but more often all that's left is a few random items and no grave. If thats the case, do graves work after creeper deaths, since where you die just turns into a giant crater?
Had a cute episode last weekend.
Was digging out a room with the filler's clear function, and mobs started spawning.
I got killed inside the area being cleared, and grave showed up ..... to watch it being destroyed 3 seconds later by the filler and destroyed all my stuff, including my fully equipped MPS.

Took all my self control not to ragequit.
The gravestone mod isn't actually installed; the grave in the ftb packs are from OpenBlocks, and as said before, are disabled in newer updates.Died in a lava pool, started dropping gravel to fill said pool. Ended up popping my grave with a piece of gravel and everything went into the fire.
I didn't lose anything near as bad as Shevron, but I really dislike the graves mod.
which is why the gravestone mod rules (they don't go wrong ever, and they have awesome dungeons and loot)More often than not I feel you're better off just chasing your items within the 5 minutes of vanilla. For the 8 times the graves work, the last two out of ten you're no better but probably worse off when they go wrong.
