Direwolf20 1.6.4 (Pump trouble )

Hey all.

the problem is I'm trying to pump water out of a square, the pump runs fine, the pumps also pump water into the tank.

but the square remains the same, disappearing no water? like just randomly comes water into my tank. but dont disapere anythink from the square

is there away to remove the water ? white the pump .. or do i need another mod for that.

Dont bother with the pump. Get some dirt and fill it in, and dig out the dirt again. The time spend on setting up something to automatically do it will be 10 times longer than just filling it in manually.

Also, I don't think the pump will be limited to inside the square, it will be pulling water from far away first(32+ blocks away), that's probably why you don't see it going down inside.

Your problem is that 2 water source blocks with a space between them will make a new water source block in that space. This is a basic minecraft mechanic. The pump could work if the water were left hanging in the air (like after running a quarry), but not enclosed like this. The easiest thing to do is fill it with sand then remove the sand. There is a mod that will let you turn off infinite water in the configs, but I don't know what it is.

Actually(unless this was changed in 1.6) water does not flow together and form new source blocks unless there is solid blocks directly underneath it. It is entirely possible to create holes in the sea that will not flow together unless you manually go and place something like dirt directly under the water you want to force flowing together.

I would suspect that if the OP turns around and looks out in the nearby see, he will see a half crescent depression in the sea some 32-64 blocks away.

Okay was just back in the old days in ftb unleashed. you could pump water out again. but yeah you allso had another pump and the gate to it. just though the pump had the same option just take ages to field op white sand and remove it again. but seems that i have to do so :s

Yeah, it's a recent change in minecraft where source blocks can form in deeper water, although I think there has to be a layer of source blocks underneath.

Get a Shovel of the Earthmover from Thaumcraft. Not only does it dig out 9 blocks at the time, it also places 9 blocks of the block you rightclick on with it. Its stupendously fast to fill in water with it.
One of those with repair, unbreaking and efficiency is a standard part of my tool enderpouch of any build.

OpenBlocks adds a sponge block which can clear out liquid in a 5x5x5 area, it's crafted with a piece of wool and slimeball.
it's not an automated way, but it's hella fast

do be careful though, if it gets near lava, it'll clear the lava aswell, and then burn up, because it's a sponge, sponges can't work with lava silly

ExtraUtils add an Ender-Thermic pump (it is made for lava, but I think it works with water as well) it replaces the flowing water block with a stone block (no need to supply stone) or a BuildCraft filler could do the work.
