I have the latest pack of both direwolf and forge, but every time I or any other try to play on my server, there frequently happens sort of "lag-timeouts" where you for 10 - 15 seconds can't look in chests, place blocks, remove blocks, or anything server-sided, but moving around, looking at inventory and alike works fine.
This happens about every half minute and every time it does the server log say the "can't keep up, did the server time change or is the server overloaded" thing
The blocks that are being placed may or may not appear after the timeout, and when pressing a chest doing the timeout it will look inside it after the 10 - 15 second period.
I didn't have this problem with the last direwolf pack but with 5.0.1 it's almost consistent.
We are only a total of 6 people playing about 4 at a time max, and the server has 3 gb ram.
We have 4 dimensions excluding nether and twilight forest.
I can't figure out the problem, please help?

I'm getting similar issues with my server as well. Getting pretty frustrating to try and play. I think from now on, I'm telling my users to not update their clients until I give them the go ahead, just so I can test an update before putting our server on it.

you will have to check your machines. make sure no one made a lag-generator 9000 in your worlds.

things like:
Bugged retrievers from redpower.
Cobble gens that are spilling out of your BC tubes.
A crap ton of managers(RP) with a crap ton of items flowing through them
Insane Timers(RP) set at insane speeds.
so on.

I don't have any of those, the only thing I got is 6 timers, none under 1 sec. and even when turned off it does it
I also tried deleting the world once and start again, (even though that was with 5.1.0, don't know if it's fixed in 5.1.1) but it still did it

I know I'm just being one of those people who say "Hurr, I have are problem 2! Let me not help you!", but I have this issue too. The lag is starting to build up from all the machinery, even when I've made my autarchic gates only run on certain conditions and hooked up redstone to detect certain things to turn off my timers.
I'm pretty sure this is just from the amount of mods, and either something not being able to handle it or just an overload.
Back when the direwolf20 pack wasn't even out, I added SO MANY mods to the FTB Beta Pack A pack that the game started to slow down beyond repair. I removed a bunch of mods, and it fixed it. (I had either 56 or 66 mods, I can't remember).

But If lag build up by machinery was the problem then I don't get how I can nuke every single place with machines and it still lags.
Also we don't even have that many machines, 2 out of the 6 of us uses solar panels and 1 uses nuclear power.
I also use some forestry, bee-, tree- and wheat farm, and that's pretty much it. we got about 60 machines most of them being furnaces, macerators and extractors, and I use about 10 peat fired engines and 3 blueticity engines.
I don't know how mod works, but if this is the max of what direwolf can handle, there should be a whole lot more of people with the similar problem, and the modmakers should stop adding mods if their mod overloades so easily
