Let's imagine this situation:
You've got a world, and you have some kind of mod installed which adds another dimension. Let's say Twilight Forest.
What would happen if you travelled to the twilight, and then you would remove the Twilight forest mod and load up the world again. This is different from just the blocks disappearing, since the whole DIMENSION disappeares!
I guess you would just crash and get tons of NullPointerExceptions. But yeah, anyone knows what happens or dare to try it?

I would expect you'd have to delete the player data of anyone that was in the deleted dimension so that they can spawn. I believe this sort of thing HAS happened in Vanilla with the Nether.

Actually you get a error like dimension does not exist had this happen a few times with mystcraft
To safe the player file just edit the player.dat file's dimension field to the overworld and the y coords to 255 just hope you dont spawn in the middle of a floating island xD

i have actually found a way to do something like this in vanilla. in the end you place a spawned in nether portal block and walk through. the world goes dark and you just fall forever

I don't think that's quite the same, since the nether exists, it just doesn't load properly. I did this a few times myself and it send me to the nether, just how it's supposed to be. My nether was preloaded from a normal portal tho.
