Yesterday I made a quarry in the twilight world. The quarry was standing in middle of a tree. It was running by 2 magmatic engines. The tank was right next to them. When i came back today, most of the tree was burned down. The tree was VERY BIG!!! Nothing! Did the engines explode? I thought that they don't explode.

Never had a magmatic engine explode, twilight forest is remarkably buggy though, how were you getting the lava to the engines?

If by tank you mean "endertank", that could be the problem. I've heard of quarries going poof in the TF when enderchests are used for the items; could be that TF just doesn't like enderchests/tanks.

A glass tank. I put like 40 buckets in it then I connected it via cobblestone waterproof pipes. (wooden pipe powered by redstone engine to pump it out).

Hmm, not sure if glass tanks contribute a fire risk to nearby wood blocks; I never use 'em these days with the other available options.

Probably just the TF though, it's notoriously buggy with quarries.

Magmatic engines can't explode.

Most likely it was a pipe connected to the engine that blew up since the build up would have be right next to the engine it would look like that is what exploded.

If it was a buildcraft conductive pipe then that is absolutely what exploded.

Last I knew, conductive pipe explosions did no block damage, nor caused any fires. Don't they just take out the pipes themselves without touching anything else in the area? It sounds like a big explosion but is actually quite tame.

Since when? When I use them they did quite a bit of damage.

I've only ever had them make a dramatic pop and at most take out one other pipe with them, or that may have even been two pipes exploding simultaneously

that was changed in 1.4.7 so that it was a larger blast the longer it was not doing anything

Just tested right now in Ultimate 1.0.1. I put snow (which has extremely low blast resistance) all around a pipe, and when it exploded, all of the snow blocks were intact. Looks like it does some player damage, but definitely nothing to the surrounding environment.

rare possibility it pissed off a creeper when it exploded.

Either way the engine itself does not explode so it can not be the source of the damage the OP had.

I thought that conductive pipes only exploded when they filled up with energy that had nowhere to go?

Can't see that happening with a couple of magmatic engines connected to an active quarry tbh. Maybe if someone/something turned off the quarry or it hit bedrock.

What do you know, they did change how conductive pipes explode.
Another misconception disolved. *tested it myself*

But I really do remember pipes blowing up hardcore, that was Mindcrack though.

I believe there is a bug that causes the TF to do a chunk reset when a chunk is chunk loaded when the world is left, Im not sure though. Sorry for being late:)

I think the quarry itself will explode after a couple minutes. I also set up 2 magmatic engines connected directly to the quarry (no pipes at all) with an ender tank of lava between them. I had just picked a direction to explore in when a hell of a lag spike hit. Whatever the problem, a quarry in the TF seems to be a guaranteed way to loose a quarry without getting any resources these days.[DOUBLEPOST=1378451984][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'll have to go back & check the chunk borders where I set mine up. I only lost half my set up but I also lost about half the building I built around my portal, but there seemed to be little world damage between the 2.

The did used to explode. They were substantially changed so that they remain useful with the existence of conductive pipe. There's now places where they're a good fit. Incidentally, I did at one point use the fact that they explode if they were carrying too much energy as a failsafe to prevent engine explosions. Changes always break at least someone's workflow even if they're ultimately for the better ;)
