Death on log in losing all items

(First time posting here and i was not sure if i would be allowed to put this in the server admin area since I am not the admin. If a mod could move this to the appropriate place it would be much appreciated.)

So my friends and I have recently moved to a new server and within a week we've started being victims of what seems to be a horrible bug. It has affected me twice and a few other people on the server. Basically what is happening is what seems like randomly when we log in we are met with the death screen and when we hit respawn all the items are gone. They're not even where we died at. The couple times it has happened to me it was because i was logging out and back in and when i logged out I was punched by a friend at the same time. When i logged back in I was met with the death screen and lost all my items.

It seems like a relatively new problem as the main server mod is very suspicious of anyone who says this has happened to them and will only give them minimal items back. It is uncommon but frequent enough that i believe it to be a large problem. I was wondering if anyone has some insight on this issue it would be much appreciated.

That sounds highly, highly suspicious.

Try this: build a safe room. Warded walls and doors - not that important - but most of all an item collector.

Only ever log off there. That should protect your items at least. Portal gun + portal spawner + wireless redstone +remote can make it so that it's accessible from anywhere.

Very suspicious... Kinda sounds like your characters stays logged in even after you logg off. That would explain the death and lost items, however it wouldn't explain the speed at which your items seem to despawn. And that's just plain weird.

EDIT:

Wait, I know, maybe. What's the death message, do you know?

Cause falling into the void and suffocating in a wall is handled client side. You can die before you finish logging in if you char falls into the void. However, that's an old vanilla bug which has been (mostly) fixed since.

You haven't mentioned which pack you're using. Also, what's your servers tick per second rate?

Im using the mindcrack pack and it comes up with just You have died and it doesnt say anything in the chat. Im not sure how to check my servers tick per second rate.

Just from what ive seen it tends to happen when people take damage very shortly before logging off or being disconnected from the servers.

Well, then send the admin over, logs would do a world of good. Otherwise it's just theorycrafting. Next time it happens to you or anyone else, make sure you mark the (preferably server) time to make searching easier.

hey poppy, I'm the admin... what would you like me to give over?
I have the server log and see nothing about him dying... I up loaded it below.... I found just before he died around 2013-06-02 12:56:44... i think...
now the strange thing is i have never experienced it nor have some people from my town, which means really nothing

Yeah, I see nothing out of place either. Except that.. well, there's no cussing. But anyway, one last thing that might be worth checking is the specific player console logs. Could be simply falling of the world while loading.

If it's what I think it is, then there's not much that can be done with it.
