So, as the title suggests, I want to know if it is possible to make an area on my survival server dedicated to creative mode. As in, it would automatically change my game mode to creative when I enter the area, and change it back to survival upon leaving the area.

I am curious because I like to play entirely survival and others on the server like to play creative, but I don't want them to clutter my area or the rest of the server with creative madness. It would be awesome if I could dedicate a specific zone to just creative without the hassle of constantly changing game modes manually.

Thanks!

ive been to a server running bukkit, they use mods that allow players to jump between maps that are in creative and survival mode. they even use a mod that partitions a map into small regions that are allocated to players, with commands to invite others to build in thier areas. plotme is a popular plugin for bukkit that does 'plots' for players in creative mode...skyblock map which allocates islands to players, that normally runs in survival mode..etc etc. not sure if vanilla mc servers have similar mods

Well I am running ftb monster on a private server. I suppose I just need to look into bukkit and see what it has offer. Thanks

Depending on what you mean by area I don't think it's possible to have a creative area within the same world. But world to world I've seen it done, the plugin used to be called multiworld or multiverse, IIRC. Not sure if that's what they use now.
I also remember an admin of a server I used to go to mention something called bungeecord, but that's for hosting interlinked server clients to a central hub world. Probably overkill for what you need though and probably not mod compatible.

Ah ok, well that multiworld thing sounds great. I will look into it.

Thanks.
Yeah, the last time I heard about those plugins was in the 1.4 beta days of vanilla Minecraft. Then again a search for Minecraft multiworld should get you in the right direction.
