Windows .exe Crashing and lagging frequently

So I have Gregtech disabled because I dont like it, What other mods can I turn off that can reduce lag and the program from crashing. I find FTB really fun but just annoyed with the crashing every like 15 minuets. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Xycraft is a big one for lag.

No, but I rather enjoy it, so my biased opinion never says take it out.

Well from your opinion which should I take out. Im running on a good laptop that has 8 gb ram and a really good i7 processor, so my hope is to reduce as much lag as possible so i could possibly record

Add optifine.

Remove xycraft. Xycraft is the worst of the laggy mods because of the crystals.

You should be good to go.

Personally, I'd just go with one of the 1.5.2 beta packs, or for a real challenge, jaded's magic farm pack.

im not going for anything to fancy, just wanna make it similar to Wolf21, and MinecraftWB's set up. Thanks so much for the help!
