Grydian's solution works the best, since you are limited by how fast the carpenter operates anyways. The problem is that it isn't redundant, i.e. it is not immune to system failures and isn't self mediating. If for some reason the engine stops, etc. the failure point which he is trying to avoid with this strategy will become a reality.
Use the translocator, or whatever it is. Can you not format all nine slots? I think it was specifically designed for these kinds of things, though I haven't used one yet. I'll play around with one in a bit, maybe not before you need a solution, but meh. I am on a FTB slump.
