I think there is an Engineer's Toolbox module that can turn wool into 4 string (with no dye output). Is E Toolbox in Monster?

Yes it is in monster, but the OP is using DW20
Else I would have suggested trying the Wool Gin from Project Red as well. Tool that when crafted with a block of wool will turn it into 4 string. Suspect it is durability based, but not that expensive to make(just a small starting investment).
