Hello,

Today, while trying to plan where to put various things in my future base, I wanted to place the basis for iron tanks.

I really wanted to have all possible liquids in tanks, apart from those that obviously can't ("molten" ones in the thermionic fabricator).

While trying to find a way to have a list of all possible liquids, I right clicked on one in NEI (showing usages).
In the various pages, I saw one called "Liquid registry".
Clicking on the arrow in this page, it showed all possible "recipes" in the liquid registry.
29 complete pages, so 58 liquids.

Finding that some don't seem to have ways of creating them, at least in NEI (Liquid nitrogen for example, in the last page), I wanted to know if there was really 58 liquids to store or if the actual number is way lower.

I am the kind of person that try to "collect them all", so I wanted a huge room with many 7x7 tanks, but I would like not to waste the space and iron for the liquids that we can't produce (and put in tanks).

If anyone has any idea on what the actual amount is, please let me know.

Some of those are gasses. And you can get some as side products check the industrial electorlyzer and the industrial centrifuge recipes.

I guess it's time to hole myself in and look at a lot of pages of NEI then^^

You can do it a bit easier. You should be able to use the R and U keys to explore the nested recipes. Or worst case get to any recipe that brings up the machines GUI and you should be able to click on the process arrrow on he machine to get a list of all its recipes.

good luck getting a full tank of liquid DNA you would need a few 100,000 bees as you get very little per bee

Yes and no.
Squeezer, for example, doesn't show up when trying to find out how to make liquid honey.

And I am not saying I will completely fill them all, but I like the Iron Tanks better that the buildcraft ones, it's just a personal preference based on how they look.
Sure, it won't be as good with only little liquid in some of the tanks, but each of those I can build a good supply of will fill up with time

Bees can really help into making a decent supply of liquid dyes, the white one will come from my tier 5 skeleton spawner too.

As for Liquid DNA, well, you just drop all useless drones in the machine instead of voiding them, and you will get quite a few buckets of it before you even want to mass produce it.

I think that the Greg tech ones could potentially be harder to get in quantities, as they take quite some time and resources to produce.

EDIT: Upon spending half an hour in the recipes, I think it is safe to assume that they can all be produced.

For now, I will plan 58 iron tanks then.
Oh, so much iron and sand...

try doing tanks just 3x3x4 (X-Z-Y), only 30 iron block tank, 2 glass block and 2 valve blocks each tank, the best design (for me) could be:
top and bottom: valve middle surrounded by iron 3x3x1
front: two glass in the middle and the rest iron 1x3x4
back and sides: all iron

Nah, I plan think they are too small, only 1-wide for the glass part.

Well, I will have to mine a lot more for my tanks than anticipated, but it will be fun.

Andif all else fails, I can always put Mystcraft in the mix, right?

Is this end game stuff? then you can just make quantum tanks+small iron tank next to it (for the look and valves)

End game?
Hardly, I only have a cheap steam engine I feed with charcoal, and very few stuff powered by it.

The most "advanced" things I have are the two railscraft multi blocks. Times two.
I don't even have a proper storage room, just chests and some barrels lying around.

I am just planning what I need and want in my future base. But not that far in the future as to want the Greg Tech stuff all over the place right off the bat^^

i would really like to the liquid api to be finished, the liquid metals to be implemented to it, and the thermionic fabricator to work with it.

Probably getting off topic at this point, but this new Forge mod, Cogs of the Machine (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...of-the-machine-v012b-now-with-lethal-weapons/), has a machine that does just that. Really cool stuff; the power system is incredible. I hope it makes its way into FTB when its finished.
Not quite, he just adds an internal tank that can't be accessed.
What we were asking for was a way to smelt metal, store it away in tanks, and then use them as needed to make ingots and mix them together in alloys.

back on topic: what about using XYcraft tanks (when they get implemented)? they look nice and dont need that much liquid...

Well, when XYcraft will have usefull blocks that are not just for look, why not, but it could take quite some time^^

And it's not quite on the topic, as I asked how many tanks I would need, not what kind of tanks to use, but doesn't matter much.
