Hey guys!

It's been a long time since I've played this game, but I wanted to get back into it last night. Last time I played it was direwolf20 1.6.4 and it ran as smooth as butter with maxed out render distance and everything. Last night I downloaded the new direwolf20 1.16 and tried loading into it, but to my surprise I only get 2 FPS. I left the game on for a couple minutes for the map to generate, but after 5 minutes it peaked at 3 FPS. Tried downloading the server version, set it up and connected to it locally, still 2-3 FPS. Reopening the old 1.6.4 version gives me 150-200 FPS.

Specs:
Ryzen 5 2600x
Radeon RX470
32 GB DDR4
The game is running on a M.2 drive

I really doubt that the specs are causing it to run as low as 2 FPS, do you guys have any idea what the issue could be? I don't mind going back and playing the old version, but I'm curious as to what's going on.

Thanks in advance!

It's your graphics card (or rather the driver), that's causing the issue - somewhat known issue with AMD graphics (since ATI) and Minecraft.

Try turning MipMap levels down to 0 (video settings).

I am currently experience the same problem
Although my "specs" are
i7-3770k.
RX480
512 GB SSD
Turning MipMap to disable didn't help me in this case.
Maybe it's just my pc getting old.

Would appreciate any further advice

I had the same problem with similar PC specs.

I was able to fix the issue by changing disableTextureAnimations to true in the foamfix mod config file.

No clue if this is necroposting. How do you have foamfix? It isn't supported 1.16+, which is where the new dw20 pack is.
