Can't launch direwolf20 1.2.1

Details of the issue:
I can launch 1.3.0 and 1.3.1 but my friends have a server and its 1.2.1 and they don't want to update it for some reason. If I try to launch it the launch button from the FTB laucher grays out for a second them in the launcher console I get [19:45:58] [main/ERROR]: Unable to launch. Then the launch bar works again.​
