cant install optifine on ftb ulimate please help!

hows it going people so ive been trying to install optifine to remove the hardcore red fog as you can see but when i install it, it messes up my textures and makes all the modded items look like this O_O ive tried using
OptiFine_1.4.6_L_B5
OptiFine_1.4.6_L_A3
and yes they are in instmods.
i have no idea why it is doing this if someone could assist me here it would be much appreciated :)
