Hello,
I recently started playing FTB again, this time i'm playing on the Monster pack. But i have run into a BIIIIG problem. I. CAN'T. FIND. ANY. REDSTONE. OR. DIA. i have been branch mining for 3 hours, and i have only found 9 redstone.

Am I just VERY unlucky or is there a problem????

Early in my current Monster world I had trouble finding redstone.

Looking at my quarry sides it appears to mostly spawn right down near bedrock, lower than you'd see it in vanilla most likely. Same for diamonds.

That said, mimichite is plentiful so you only need one exemplar of each :)

Understand that chunk generation is purely probability. There is an average count, but the chances that you explore the entire chunk, such that you satisfy sampling its entirety, is slim.

You just have to truck through the low times and conserve what you get during high times.

Plus, assuming vanilla ore spawning is used, there is a single diamond vein per chunk if it hasn't been removed by something like a cave or ravine, or gods forbid, a stronghold.

You'd almost be better off using IC2 to generate some diamonds when you need 'em.

Well, 1.5.2 ore gen is kinda ridiculous. Run around with a fortune III pick at level 14ish, and you're set till you quarry Mystcraft worlds.

Unleashed ore generation is teh fun.

One world I had a 64k Memory cell just for my iron ingots ^_^

Ore generation in Monster is a bit different, if you look at the cofh-generation.cfg config file you'll see that diamond is found only below level 13.

Damn, that really reduces generation.[DOUBLEPOST=1397855441][/DOUBLEPOST]Quick Tip: Highlands has double Diamond and other ore generation in certain biomes.

Mining laser? As in IC2? Nope.avi
I prefer my bound pick in beast mode and awakened ichorium pick
And people still use torches?
