Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
According to the console log the client ran out of memory. Put the 64bit version of Java onto the client and add some arguments will help. With the 32bit version you can at most allocate 1GB of RAM to the client you probably need a little bit more and the arguments will do that and help with performance.

Ok how would he put the 64bit java instead of the 32bit? And what do you mean by arguments?

And add more ram in the options section of the launcher. Right?

He tried putting this in the additional java parameters
-XX:MaxPermSize=128m
He said didn't do anything

Have him follow the recommended install guide exactly. It will instruct him to remove the 32bit version of Java and download the 64bit version of Java. He only needs the 64bit version of Java. This will allow him to allocate more than 1GB of RAM to minecraft. Now have him add the arguments exactly as they appear in this thread for the FTB launcher. Finally as the thread indicates set the slider for RAM allocation to 2GB in the launcher.
