The arrangement in the attachment does not create anything :(

The central item is a Machine Frame (Basic) Thermal Expansion.

I just started using FTB after being a vanilla player for ages. I'm using Direwolf20 1.0.3 - I was on 1.0.2 but this didn't work either so I decided to see if the newer mods worked.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Is that exactly the recipe shown in NEI?

At the bottom of your inventory screen, there should be a search box. (If there isn't, press the key that shows the NEI interface, which is O by default, if I remember correctly). Type in "sawmill", then click on something that's not the search box and look in the panel of items on the right side of the screen for the block in question. Hover your cursor over this block, then press R to see the recipe.

If pressing R rearranges your inventory, go to the vanilla Controls menu and bind InvTweaks' Sort key to something else.

Aha! Thanks - it was not the one in NEI but it is the one that's on multiple websites.

I'll now make sure to check NEI first for all recipes :) Cheers!

Those other websites that are showing the recipes I think are for TE/TE2 builds, not sure what version of MC you are running, but MC 1.7.10 is TE4 iirc

there's also a configuration option to make recipes more expensive in Thermal Expansion
