Can anyone point out a quick guide or have ideas for a imported world?

Hello all...

Simple and stupid question which I have an idea about the end answer, but I thought I would toss this out there anyways.

Generated a world with pre 1.7.2 vanilla "snapshot" and imported into MC 1.5.2 for FTB and seemed everything converted over on the outside, but we finally decided to go looking for the end portal while in FTB and of course the ender eyes take us to a different place where the end portal is not. Read up and found out that this tends to happen, ok we got our own built and yada yada.

tl;dr summary: Imported world generated from snapshot,, trying to avoid MCEditting every structure out already created only to re-generate same world with same seed with FTB then re-copy and paste the structures back into it.

Any ideas or if someone has already gone down this road, where is the thread that discusses this? I wasn't able to find anything relevant. Thanks in advance!

The world generation algorithm changed with the new added biomes in vanilla 1.7.x This would cause the portal to either be in a completely different location as the world generates now in 1.5.2 with the old algorithm or be off by a lot with the new biomes not being generated to fill in the space. Either way once the world generation algorithm changes you will encounter this problem when you back port.

So that's the specific reason behind it. Thanks for the technical details. So, in that case my question has changed slightly. Since I will be faced with exporting all structures, where would a guide be for Mystcraft and all of its save file structures be? We have designed a few ages and really don't wish to lose them either. Twilight Forest hasn't been used much so that's not a problem, but is there any way to save and transfer ages to different world saves?

I didn't expect a quick reply, and I really appreciate it.

I don't really understand the problem. You generated the world in 1.7, it doesn't work properly in 1.5, so what do you want to do? Transfer the world back to 1.7? There are no mods for 1.7 yet.

This is the reasoning behind, " where would a guide be for Mystcraft and all of its save file structures be?" due to the fact that 1.6.4 has little mods available and 1.7 has none (which will change thanks to Mojang finally implimenting a proper API for plug-ins. YES!

So til then, I will be rebuilding the world back into 1.5.2 with structures being copied out of the original save and into the new one. Was just trying to find an easier shortcut instead of copying and pasting structures with MCedit or Minecraft editor.

Yeah basicly your map is made on world gen form 1.7 but your game is calculating things as if the seed was done on 1.5.2 This is why stuff does not work or points to weird places.

There is no real easy way to fix it over all. But it is possable to fix some issues with clever use of creative mode. Like the end portal thing if it is built correctly you should be able to make one in creative mode that fuctions for you. Or you might be able to use one of the 1.7 map viewers to find out where you portal should be then go to it manually.

Over all yeah maps between versions always end up a little buggy more so when you go backwards.

There is not an easier option for your particular issue
Thanx RedBoss, just needed someone to tell me so. Can't hurt to ask, right?

Was not aware of any map viewers from 1.7. I know of editors and it would take for f-ing ever to manually scan the whole of the world since I do not know enough about editors yet.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It shows a strong sense of community in my eyes that multiple people try to help out. I really appreciate the help.

UPDATE: just tried to re-do a test world with same seed generated in 1.5.2 but foolish me decided to give "Biomes-o-plenty" a try, and about crapped myself taking off in creative mode to get a small glimpse of the landscape.

For sure, going to copy all structures now, even subterrainian and will "fit" them into the newly generated world with awesome ass "Biomes-o-plenty" enabled. Sincerely FTB is a wonderous thing made for Minecraft and thanx community for so much hard work and dedication to making a "dream" game even more awesome!

I'm attempting to do a similar thing and MCedit is being difficult.

Any help would be great

You'll need to select and copy the structure from one world and paste to the next. Search for mcedit tutorials on the youtube.

Also, do a search for "Axial Media" web site and there is a free Minecraft level editor that is getting better at ignoring "modded" blocks and allow you to import structures with more precision.

Sorry for taking so long, haven't checked my email for days. Hope this helps.
