LOL then you picked THE WRONG game my friend.. The is no "point" of minecraft its a "Sandbox" game.. THe point is to do whatever you want in the game and have fun doing it.. Whats fun for me in ftb is to challenge myself to build more complicated contraptions and I'm also really getting into learning Lua from using computercraft.

of course it is a sandbox, but there are stuff that isnt pointless, like beacons, or portal guns, or defeating the dragon.

In vanilla I have no problem on keeping playing, but FTB simply doesn't have enough end game stuff (mention me at least 3 items that you consider endgame outside IC2, good luck)

Just wait until the terrafirmacraft pack comes out. You will be much, much slower. And there is basicly no getting to ultimate god-mode ether.

EDIT: crystal core, witherless rose, galigorian drill.

but you see, nothing is pointless in minecraft. The point is to have fun, and fun is subjective.

The problem is one of perception. For example, I see an automated arcane bore firing Frame mining ship as awesome. You seem to see it as inefficient compared to the BC quarry. And yes, it is less efficient. That's not the point.

You're playing to win a game you can't beat.

No offense but you sound really confused, I don't think even you know what you really want.

I can fully understand the threadstarter. I guess the problem is, that you looked at the techtree and built all the nice things that give ressources for free. set up a treefarm + biomass producer... no energyproblems at any time again. so in my world, I don't mess around with renewable energy sources. I harvest oil from overworld oil wells, pump them through a tesseract to my voidworld railcraft tank and then I process it to fuel in my gregtech destillation tower (which was a pain in the ass to gather all the chrome, even with my dense-ore world). which leads to another point. everyone can set up a bunch of quarries, pump the ressources to a smelting system and then sit at the end of the system and watch the different ingots popping into chests. if I need ressources, I go to that dense ore world and harvest them by hand. the dense ore world just helps at lowering the need of digging through useless stone... and I won't automate ressource harvesting in the dense ore world.

I will just try later terrafirma, for now greg and his tech in the ultimate pack.

Fun for me is... Keep playing the same game, not repetive/grinding, for a really long time, and always have new stuff to do, that might be useful in the long run (why do I need oil if I have biomass/steam? Oh, because this machine uses oil and gives cool stuff!)

Just wait until the terrafirmacraft pack comes out. You will be much, much slower. And there is basicly no getting to ultimate god-mode ether.

Got 2 cores, never heard about the rose (sounds interesting, hey) and the drill... You got me there I guess.

I don't understand your thinking. So in Vanilla you can play forever and there is so many end game options. In FTB, which includes Vanilla MC as well as dozens of massive mods, there is not enough end game items. That makes no sense because everything you can do in Vanilla MC, you can do in FTB.

This. Or make your own TFC pack with multimc if you don't want to wait. It works fine with NEI, Rei's minimap, InvTweaks and Optifine.

I had the same problem you have, and TFC is like a breath of fresh air, it completely changes the gameplay. As Squidgen said, you have to work a lot harder to advance the tech-tree, but unlike gregtech the tediousness isn't just there to slow you down, it actually makes sense because everything is extremely realistic.

What you should do is:
  1. Download Terrafirmacraft (don't wait for the pack)
  2. Download Better Than Wolves
  3. Combine these mods into one pack.
You don't even need to play Minecraft, just add both these mods to your game (successfully, with no conflicts).
Good luck! That should keep you occupied for a while.
Oh, if you do get them, and you still wanna play
  1. Turn on hardcore BTW settings
  2. Get Quantum Armor
No IC2, just make quantum armor. Straight out craft it.

You could try installing mo creatures and starting a new world with that. Just crank up the spawn rates. There are lots of other mobs that can increase the complexity and difficulty. Ogres can even totally wreck your house and set you back. There are breeding and taming mechanics for the horses that are interesting.

I get bored at about the same point you do and feel the same about the "pointless" stuff. So something else I do to counteract it is starting new worlds and focusing on using primarily tech I haven't used before to get to the end game. Like only use railcraft or only use redpower or something.

You're trolling him, aren't you? TFC requires Forge, and Flowerchild made BTW deliberately incompatible with Forge, so how would you make them work together?

Besides that, TFC is designed as a standalone mod. You really should try to play it the way it's meant to be played, at least the first time.

It would require complex recoding of one or both the mods, and presto!
BTW was "designed" as a stand alone mod too :D

Do TFC in hardcore mode. should keep you occupied for a good while.
And yeah. don't wait for it to be in the launcher. getting it to work on multiMC is not all that hard. took me like 5 minutes.

just follow the instructions and download the same forge version as the one the mod was last compiled for. (Forge 6.5.0.486 as of TFC beta build 75)
backdate mincecraft to 1.4.6 in multimc as well. TFC is not properly 1.4.7 compatible. it will just crash on startup if you don't do this.

Well that's why I "accused" you of trolling. There are people on these forums who are stupid (or simply unexperienced) enough to read stuff like this and then spend days trying to get it to work (but I'm pretty sure dravarden is not one of them judging from his posts I have read).

To be honest, I never bothered to try BTW. I think playing with mods requires a lot of trust, as theoretically a mod could execute almost any code on your computer. So I try to avoid using mods that are coded by raging lunatics...

I don't even touch other launchers besides ftb, you think I'm going to touch a mod that thinks all that crap is better than wolves? I rather have wolves and 200 mods than a single stupid mod (that hates wolves)

Anyway, in vanilla you cannot do anything automatic, its more fun to do by hand.

Whoa. People can get to end game in 3 days? I've spent the last 6 hours setting up some quarries and a sorting system. And then sucked myself to the moon...

I find the best way to re-engage into minecraft is to give yourself a challenge for the world. The optimal path often ends the fun quickly.

Usually i take whatever i used excessively in a previous world and don't use it. So if you got all your resources from the BC quarry last world, don't use it in a new one and try out the other automated mining methods.
