I really wish the netherbrick was that deep purple in my texture pack but instead it's a bright red so I can't use that for my tower :\
Precicely the reason I can't stand Soartex. My base uses Netherbrick as a floor/cieling material... and that bright red is just gharishly awful.
Faithful ftw.

This is why I've given up on texture packs and just use the default.

That and having to switch back and forth every update when a new block/item/thing is added until the designer updates the texture.

So yeah given up on HD and all that just roll with the defaults these days.

Ok it's not a direct answer to your question about the room. But I thought I would chip in about location.
Build it in another dimension. Idealy a Mystcraft world so you can harvest silverwood and anything else you like. But mostly so you don't screw up your base if you go mad with magic.
I mean who gives a monkeys if you screw up the enviroment in a disposable dimension.
I tend to start of in another dimension, then when I am advanced enough to progress without polution I build a proper lab near, but not in my base.

I thought of that. I gotta say I really like the sky in my quarry age but I already found a place to setup in the overworld which is quite far from home.

As for the texture pack, I like all the block textures in them and I like the netherbrick texture and color. I'm just saying the deep purple brick would look good for this project

I did just that. I have a full thaumcraft setup in my main base, but for general building stuff where I'm going to release flux, I set up an altar in an unused mystcraft age.

Oh, and for the person who mentioned "fun"...

Well I made some progress on the tower. I think the black Xycraft brick is looking good with the balsalt brick base. The marble floor is temporary for now. I'm just unsure what block to use for the floor.

I started working on the entrance to the tower. Originally I was planning on doing a grand stairway but now I'm thinking maybe make a grand stairway for the upper half, extend a bridge midway up, and then have two small sentry towers and a grand staircase leading down to ground level on the other end of the bridge. Thoughts?

Also I need to figure out what I'm going to do for stairs since Xycraft and Balsalt/Marble don't have stair blocks.

I almost cried when I saw that you couldn't make red brick microblocks... the walls of my base are covered in the stuff and I wanted to hide tubes behind there :'(

Yeah sadly and E has pointed out making microblocks for other mods just is to much to do so vainlla and RP blocks are all you can work with. but still that is a good collection of stuff to make awesome out of.

Hope she changes her mind at some point, I absolutely adore the new red cobble/stone/brick blocks, would love some micro's for it

I don't think balsalt stairs would look good... maybe marble. It might blend in with the white Xycraft bricks.

I wish Eloraam made it possible to make stairs and halfslabs out of balsalt and marble without having to saw them down. Couldn't be too hard to code, right? Hell even Notch was able to do it and he isn't even able to comprehend that vanilla redstone is inferior compared to RP :D

I'm also unsure as to what I should do for the entrance. I want to keep it medieval but without xycraft stairs, it's a bit tough. I was thinking maybe using frame motors and making the doors pull open to the left and to the right

I'm trying to figure out this floor but I'm not really liking any of my designs. I think the colors are just too bright.

Replaced the white with the green. Think it looks very nice. I might swap the green and the red though:

Given all these cool setups, though, I really have to ask:

Are you guys planning on "regenerating" the local aura, or are you just depleting some larger node nearby?
I'm a real stickler for sustainability, you see, and I'm honestly curious just how long you guys will end up using those rooms.

I'd keep the red centre, replace the green with light, and replace the blue with red. I think too many colours kinda ruins the mystical aesthetic.

Back to the white trim. I replaced the red center and the blue xycraft brick walkways with netherbrick.

netherbrick looks nice in whatever TP that is, what are the sorta light bluey stairs?

I put the TP in my sig. The stairs are Stone Brick since Xycraft doesn't have stairs. I'm now thinking maybe I should use netherbrick stairs since I'll be going with the netherbrick floor.

Next step is decorating. I'm thinking about putting alters in with those thaumcraft flames in top for lighting and pillars that suspend the ceiling
