Hey, folks! I'm still relatively new to mystcraft, and I'm experimenting while I wait - and hope - for some help on this. I'm trying to make a specific-ish age and I'm having some trouble. I'm using the setup suggested in the FTB Bookwriting guide here in the forums.

I'm not having a lot of luck so far, and I don't know anyone who has done mystcraft before. Most of the videos I can find are awful. I'm learning as I go but I'm really impatient and want to be on the way to creating my specific age as soon as possible. Can anyone help or make any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it. Here's what I want, and what I've been trying. So far I've come up with a stable age, but it still isn't what I want. This is the exact order I've been using with Mystcraft in the Resonant Rise 2.9.3.4 pack.

What I'm trying to make is a void world with floating islands, the only biome being magical forest. Crystals would be neat, but I don't have that page yet. I would very much like my water to be replaced with Ars Magica's liquid etherium. I want a normal, south-bound sun and moon cycle, with the moon being silver. I also want a red moon sitting in place on an east-west arc. Normal weather, normal lighting. I want a purple sky, purple fog, navy night sky, and a rainbow. Finally, I'd like the horizon to be gone, and I think that's done with the boundless sky page, but I haven't found one yet.

The biggest problem I'm having here is that it's generating other things, like tendrils and my sun/moon gets all messed up and the sky looks like static. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at this guide:
http://binarymage.com/wiki/doku.php?id=writing:symbols_summary
It shows you how to use the different pages and it which order they need to be place in comparison to other pages. At the moment you have a LOT of free modifiers(modifiers that are placed wrong and does not attach to the base page that you intend it to). This forces other pages to spawn in to match up with these free modifiers.

Example:
Red Color (sunset colour) -> Normal Moon

East Direction -> ?
Zero Length -> ?
Setting Phase -> ?

I'll check that out now and experiment further. In the meantime, any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.

Well I've drastically altered my book grammar, and I'm still getting pretty much the exact same results, which tends to be something along the lines of this every time.

For one thing, you're specifying the world type twice. If you want floating islands, don't put in a void page at all.

Also, I'm not certain what the difference between Floating Islands and Skylands is, but if I *think* that Skylands is a world type to be used in place of Standard Terrain or Void World and takes the form of a bunch of islands floating in a void, not unlike an inversion of the Nether. Floating Islands, on the other hand, adds flat, roundish islands of different biomes floating high above the normal terrain height. Depending on the effect you're looking for, your best bets are probably either Skylands alone or some number of Floating Islands pages and Void World. If you choose the latter and want more islands, put in more copies of the Floating Islands page.

Third, you're specifying your biome twice. Drop the second Forest Biome page, leaving the one before the Single Biome page.

That's all that I can see that looks incorrect, although it may or not be all. It's been a long time since I've used Mystcraft, and I've gotten a little rusty.

Actually Void is a World type(or World Landscape) and Floating Islands is a World feature "populator"(Just like Tendrils, Caves etc.), so the two of them should have no impact on each other. Same with Skylands for that matter, it is also a World Feature. But Skylands is tightly tied to the normal ground, so it might be prevented from forming when you use the Void page.:confused:

He is quite correctly specifying the biome of the Floating Islands.

I suggest you also take a look at this official guide on how to use the different pages:

Are there no Floating Islands VERY high up? They spawn very close to world ceiling. Often they do not load before you get up there.

I thought Skylands was a World type, not a feature.

If that's the case, could Skylands need it's own Forest Biome Page so that it's treated as a separate feature, and not getting randomness from Mystcrafts generation?

As you can see Skylands does not take any inputs. It must be based on the normal worlds biome.
