Direwolf's spotlight here, if you haven't seen it.

So, the new/improved Builder looks very cool. It just might keep BC in my future packs.

That said, if the Direworlf weren't such a nice guy, a more 'real world' set up would have been to replace the fuel/combustion engine silliness with a big reactor and TE conduits (I realize they're not in 1.7 yet, but still). Spacetoad's got his work cut out for him if he wants to keep this from being a 2 block mod.

Yeah, this effectively reversed Buildcraft becoming a 1-block mod thanks to the Ender Quarry. Gates also got buffed and recipes were nerfed a bit to compensate, though at this point gates are starting to run into "overkill syndrome" (having all the power they realistically need, but still getting more largely unneeded features).

Gates were always powerful, and now they are getting totally optional extra powers. How is that bad ;).

I might skip TE3 in 1.7 for a while (once it is out) so I have a good reason to us BC6. Damn, my love for the mod is rejuvenated. It was on my 1.7 world anyway.

Looking forward to the texture revamp too. Eyecandy is always appreciated.

Gates are powerful, no question. Shame they require using the derpy BC pipes :p Regardless, I've found few things that I needed to do that couldn't be accomplished with itemducts and/or AE. For me, it's a question of whether it makes since to include this huge mod if I'm only going to use the filler (and builder in 1.7). Recently, the answer's been 'no'.

It's telling that having a good reason to use BC requires skipping TE3. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate on BC, I just feel like it hasn't evolved (at least not positively) much since 1.25. It was a top notch horse drawn carriage, if you will, but with automobiles readily available, it seems to be more for the hobbyist.

BC was indeed top notch. Props to BC. Without BC, I doubt the MC modded scene would be quite the same.

SpaceToad is the genius that did it before and blew us all away when BC first came out. I'm sure he can do it again ;-)

The builder and ... steampunk. BC is basically (next to railcraft) the most steampunky mod around. Machines powered by vibration - how cool is that? The pipes may be more laggy than ducts, but they're working on it and they have far more style than any other piping system (maybe except for conveyor belts, but I like playing with magnet on in SSP which renders them useless).
As long as other mods like MFR and engineer's can utilize MJ or TE keeps outputting MJ, I'll stick to this ol' steamhorse.
'Modern' mods like factory manager, AE or EnderIO make the game too simple. There is no more move in game worlds, no more clews of pipings, no need for intelligent storage systems, even automation is automated nowadays. It's just like in the song from Zager and Evans:

In the year 5555
Your arms hangin' limp at your sides
Your legs got nothin' to do
Some machine's doin' that for you

Some people keep proclaiming BC dead since years now but it still lives. And with the fresh wind Spacetoad brings It'll continue living for a long time.

I'm quite excited but at the same time somewhat worried. I've heard rumors of the mod adding a boiler; isn't that railcraft's territory. Are the two mods still going to be as seamlessly integrated as they were before ?

The new BC boiler is mainly used as a heat source for the new multiblock refinery. I don't know if it is capable of outputting RC steam.
