It appears to me now that Redston Engines don't work in the Nether ( DireWolf20 1.5.2 modpack ), which is quite a problem.
Is there another rather easy way to power my pumps? thanks.

Edit: Pumps are not even working, it now appears.. I'll quess that all kinds of BC machines arnt working.. how do I pump?

Bc pump always worked for me.. Are you sure that there is no block below the pump?

100% sure. I have tried to apply a signal to the engine, yet nothing.. Tried a clockwork engine, worked, pump sent the line down to the lava, but no lava came up, endertank still empty ( yes, rotated a few times )

I think this might be a bug, but if you really want to continue you could try the pump from Extra Utilities. do note it's a bit different to set up then the BC pump

Are you using the new BC that was released earlier, if not please specify what mod pack and any additions to that mod pack.
