Just a thought, once 2.0 comes out we should make an "official" wiki, hosted by Eyemaz or one of us for those who want to handle with all the information. If we have enough people willing to, we could probably get a fair majority of the content in there with recipes and properties, along with a few guides.

I will more than likely open an official Blood N Bones Gaming wiki on Gamepedia for all my projects. That way, things can easily be linked to the other wiki's on Gamepedia to reduce the redundancy of having to have multiple wikis all using rehashes of the same information.

Good to know you have things like this planned :D
So will the community be able to help create articles for all the seperate mod content or for tips? Unless if you copy/paste from other wikis and update any tweaks made, it would probably take a while to get all the modpack's content in there.

The only practical guide for the Hardcore player is Ssundee's playthrough, but it doesn't apply to all seeds and you need to stand through "OMG DOODS DID U SEE DAT THING HAD 9000+ HEALTH AND LEFT ME AT 1/32 OF A HEART,"

Usually it's more like *discovers an exploit* "Duuuuuude! Yessssssss!" *psychotic stare*

This is great news. The one thing I disliked the most was the need to find info in these forums, and dig through the PAGES and PAGES to find that 1 important nugget of info.

I do have to disagree with this. As I said from my post, many players learned how to go through vanilla minecraft by outside sources. Sure, they learned some tactics by themselves, however they did not learn, say, how to make a nether portal or how to make potions. If they were forced to find out how to make these themselves, they would literally be placing random things in random places to see what works.
It's one thing if you're given the puzzle pieces with clear pictures and connectors, however it's another if there is no indication as to what they represent or how they connect. I do see how a direct guide can make it less enjoyable to some people, however if you had to rely on NEI to find "oh, this has X stats and does this," it would be quicker and as enjoyable to find the same information on a wiki, which is what @shhfiftyfive is trying to say. People who prefer to piece the information together by themselves can do that, like you, the people who want to know at least the barebones of getting from start to finish and it's branches can do that, like me, and people who want to know particularly how to survive without having to figure that much out for themselves aside from technique can do that, like fifty.
Honestly, even with the best information this pack is crazy hard. The majority of people just hate confusion rather than hating failing.

I get your point. I understand it.

But that is why there are easy packs and hard ones. I am total in favor of having some wiki with information about the pack but I am totally against the idea of putting in the pack something to help/guide/explain the progression. One of the core features of this pack is is difficulty/complexity. Lets not dumbify the pack to make it more accessible to others. BnB is nto made for the masses, its for a niche of players that want it the hard way. The ones that want easier packs can play DW20's and Infinitys. Or if they want to experience the fake sense of difficulty while holding their hand, they can play AG. They have alternatives. Us, the ones that like it hard, dificult, complex have BnB. Do not take that way from us, more hardcore players(and again, by hardcore players I mean the true sense of the word, players that like to play it on hard, with no helps, using their own skills and not the 1 life hardcore). At least, that is my opinion and that is why I always loved this pack and why I couldnt ever find any other pack that could even get close to this style of game. Only thing that could be considered similar is UHS and even that, its like a very softcore version of BnB.

But, in the end, its Eyamaz call. And while only knowing him for BnB, I know that he will choose what is best for the pack.

ps: And using google to find solutions is also a skill of an hardcore player. I dont see any problem having to google/watch youtube to learn something new. I do it all the time. Usually, when players have some effort to learn something is when they do really learn. When someone just tells them what they have to do and how without any effort /frustration from the player side, they do it and 10 mins later, they dont remember anymore how that worked....

I thought you meant you didn't want people to be given that much information at all, not just in-game. Sorry for the unnecessary rant.
I do agree if there was a book that told you everything to do in-game, it would kind of break the feel of the pack and it's ability to not spoon-feed you directions. And yes, as only people who like playing the game insanely hard enjoy it, there is no reason to dumb it down inside the pack.

Again, Eyamaz's decision. If he adds in something like that, he would be smart enough to do it right somehow.

The idea that it's more 'hardcore' to Google something and find what you're looking for on YouTube than to Google something and find it on a wiki is unbelievably ridiculous, as is the assertion that using a search engine is some skill possessed only by the best of the best. Any wiki there was would be nothing more than a better organized, presumably moderated repository of what anyone can already find, so that people can get what they're looking for and continue *playing the game* instead of sifting through a bunch of let's play footage for it.

Would you recommend playing BnB on 1.6.4 to prepare for BnB 2.0 or is it gonna be different in a lot of aspects?
If you haven't played it before, I would recommend learning the basics up to making a forge and a copper set of tools to get you an idea of the pack's feel. No info as to how different 2.0 is.

That's the main thing I was telling him... Taking longer doesn't always mean a better result.

@xMisterTurtle

for me, i don't feel playing BNB on 1.6.4 would help me at all to get ready for BNB 2.0. i expect most of what i know won't translate.

mostly because the mods/recipes themselves that i knew from BNB 1 have drastically changed and so that knowledge doesn't translate over to BNB 2.0 (or any new pack really) with updated mods and recipes.

the best way for me to prepare for BNB 2.0 would be to go play some newer packs that have updated versions of mods that will likely be present in BNB 2.0. getting familiar with the heavy amount of changes to all those mods is more important i think.

Now it's MY turn to be rude. Honestly, all I'm reading from most of you arguing about HQM (which you have no control over really) and how information on the progression should be delivered (again, no real control over) is: "I play the game the right way, and everyone else does it wrong. Mine is the only right opinion and if you think differently than I do, you suck and you're a loser." It's just a game. An amazing game that I love and am looking forward to, but still just a game. No need for people to get all hot and bothered about it and start arguing. The ONLY thing people can agree on is that Eyamaz is awesome and knows what he's doing. So how about we just let him do it, and then see how it turns out?

*sigh* Now I imagine that the flame throwers will be turned on me. *shrugs* Oh well, at leas you guys will be united and not arguing with each other anymore. Yay, I'm a diplomat... of sorts...

Legit the only reason I like HQM is the ability to know how recipies and progression et al are changed, so I know what I need to do in order to move on instead of spending 10-15 minutes through NEI trying to figure out what to do next. A wiki of some sort would be fantastic.

@Eyemaz stated he would
How about rather than HQM quests, have lore expansions?
If it's not already in there, there really isn't any lore to go off of.

This is actually a post release plan.

Actually... there is a lot.
Oh.
There wasn't really that much lore in the original BNB, so I didn't expect any would be in 2.0
It seems at least 2/3 of the stuff in the pack is new or changed in some form. Still gonna have to wait a day or two to find out.

I never had a good way to include it. At least not without making it an HQM or creating a new mod (which I did start for 1.7, then stopped when Lore Expansion was released.)
