I can't think of any except the Redstone Block that vanilla adds in 1.5, but is there any existing block that emits a redstone signal constantly in 1.4.7? I know this a dumb question but I cannot think of anything today.

Other than the Torch or certain gates like the Not Gate, nothing.

If your willing to go outside vanilla you can use a CC computer or Turtle to always send a redstone single and set it to do it at start up (as soon as it loads or placed in world).

If you want something that can be moved by a piston? Sadly, nothing. But turtles can do most of what you want.

If, as KirinDave, said you want a block that can be pushed by a piston, couldnt you just place a redstone torch underneath the block in its final position?

It depends on what you're doing. A lot of vanilla redstone circuit designs that worked in 1.4.7 off that principle were broken by changes in 1.5.*.

EDIT: Nevermind, thought you meant something else.

Redstone blocks can be pushed by pistons can't they?

The OP is looking for stuff in 1.4.7, unfortunately redstone blocks aren't in that version. Computers also can't be pushed by pistons I don't think since they have data stored in them.

When a redstone torch is placed under a block, it carries that signal to any device touching the block. So just push a block out with a piston, place the torch under the block, and pull the block out.
You can do insta redstone with this.
