I have an unproven theory

Use the spawner of choice, and an MFR machine(was it thermal expansion?) to produce snowballs(or if you are creative, a snow golem)

Hungry chest, dispennsers and a brain in a jar(or XP turtles)

For a non-powered way of killing them, I like Extra Utilities' iron spikes and conveyers. No animation on the conveyers and the spikes allow the mobs to drop rare drops.

a note on the spikes for anyone who cares, rare drops have been nerfed in 1.6 with the iron spikes
