You have a point.[DOUBLEPOST=1365583910][/DOUBLEPOST]Made what? A blaze farm? Yeah, he did, but he had two fortresses right next to his Nether spawn and that means a lot of spawners to collect with soul shards.
Thanks for that tip! Infinite blaze rods...In 1.4, it's hard NOT to find 2 next to each other. It makes it so that there's 3 different Z coords, but if you travel staying on the Z coord you'll find tons of fortresses. Also, if you've got a macerator and a minium stone, you'd need only 1 blaze rod or 2 blaze powder to get infinite amounts. A macerator gives you 5 blaze powder from a rod, while a minium stone will make a blaze rod with 2 powders.
I didn't think that the transferral of souls via the anvil was an EE thing - the FTB wiki on Soul Shards just says you can do this - no specification that you needed EE to do this. This works, but seeing as he doesn't want to use the EE exploit (which is a side effect of multiple mods working together but is technically intended functionality) I'm guessing he really won't want to use an exploit that was never even intended in the soul shards mod in the first place.![]()

I never said that the anvil exploit was an EE thing. I was just comparing the unintended consequences of intended functionality between multiple mods to the very much unintended functionality within the soul shards mod alone.I didn't think that the transferral of souls via the anvil was an EE thing - the FTB wiki on Soul Shards just says you can do this - no specification that you needed EE to do this.
Still, it does make getting tier 5 soul shards REALLY easy. I think a better way of doing it is to "scale" the souls - a shard with 1000 slime souls + shard with 5 wither skeleton souls = shard with 55 wither skeleton souls or something like that.
I never meant that duping was intended. I meant that being able to convert two powder into one rod is intended. It's only by running EE concurrently with TE or IC2 that this makes duping possible. It is not intended. The intent is for EE to reverse the rod to powder recipe with no gain. Equivalent Exchange not Duping Exchange. The intent is realized in dev builds which check for the existence of TE or IC2 and modify the reversing recipe accordingly.
Use whatever play you want in your single player, but don't pretend even to yourself that it's intended.
