Mac Black screen upon connecting to server.

Hello, every time i try to connect to a FTB server running the Ultimate Pack I get a message saying "logging in" then it turns into a black screen, from there I have to quit the game. I have tried deleting my Ultimate pack folder, force update, and adjusting my ram up and down.
Also I can run the mindcrack pack perfectly fine, but I haven't tried any other packs yet.
I am running on a late 2011 13in. mac book pro, with 4gb of ram ddr3, 2.8ghz dual core intel i7, and 384mb of video memory.

  1. The ultimate sorta kinda only likes to play well with Java 7...
  2. Try the Java parameters on the link in my Signature. (The HERE link)
  3. under the options tab install ftb to "C:\FTB\"
Try again, and see if that help.

(Sorry about the java 7 deal and you being on a mac. Does not mean it will not work, just that we have to work at it a little more. :))

Ok...

  • I changed the settings on the link you followed, retry them please.
  • Are your graphics drivers up to date?
  • Follow step #1-10 in the other link in my sig. (The link says "THIS") The steps are under fix #1
  • Re-past console, AND the file ".../crash-reports/crash-date-and-time-of-crash-client.txt" to pastbin....

ugh... Please work? :D

I've been having this issue as well, I'm going to try out the steps Booker.

Thanks for trying so hard to help with this.

Alright, I tried putting in those Parameters before I did anything else, it seemed to force update the pack, and then the launcher became 'greyed-out', I could not press anything. I then closed it.

Then, I thought I may need a different version of Java. I check to see what I am currently using. I am on "1.6.0_37". I used the "THIS" link and found you had a download link, I attempted that, only to find I need to be running Mac OS X version 10.6 for that. I then checked what I was using in that category. I am using Mac OS X version 10.7.5.

Given this knowledge, do you have any additional comments, questions, or hopefully something new to try?

I don't really know much about how this stuff works, what any of it does, I just like to play FTB. :p

OfficialD4, ONLY FOR YOU, not others..... check HERE for Java... (I hope)

This looks like it is going to become a very big problem as apple is basically not letting people using OS X 10.7.+ to install java 6 easily anymore.....

Could you post the latest console log please?

I just updated everything, to make sure the drivers were up to date.

It seemed to update my Java to "1.6.0_43". Not sure if this is good or bad, but it's what we got. Should I still follow your last post?

I'm not a mac expert, but it looks like something is blocking the connection.
The last few lines aren't actually an error, the relevant part is,

2013-03-05 17:50:47 [INFO] [STDOUT] Stopping!
Which doesn't tell us anything.
Can you confirm you can force update a pack? Did you use to be able to connect to servers?

OfficialD4, your last 2 lines are the same, but you don't have the connection problem.
Can either of you get a log from the server side?

Thanks for joining the party Watchful.

I can indeed force update, should I do that once more? I also was indeed able to connect quite wonderfully when I was playing with the Mindcrack pack. The server I became comfortable on switched yesterday to the Ultimate pack. That is why I am trying to play with this now.

I have never been able to connect to the ultimate pack.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say a 'log from the server side'. I could be of more help if you provide and explanation. :)

Either the server removed thaumic bees, or changed the id's, or something. CodeChickenCore evidently detects that and crashes. I would need to know more about the server you are trying to connect to.

OfficialD4, your log just says, connecting, disconnected. It doesn't look like anything is wrong on your end. Can other people connect to the server? Can you connect to other servers with ultimate?
The server log is the log the server generates. You would have to contact the server owner to get a copy. It might not be necessary, try to find out the answers to the above questions first.

Edit: can you play/create a ssp world?

I know for sure others can connect to the server, I have spoken with the owner recently.

Ok, I did have some issues creating a single player world, and then after a second try, I got it to work. And it runs smoothly.

I am going to try to connect to my favorite server once more.

P.S. I don't have another server to try. :p

OMG IT WORKED.

Running very smoothly on my favorite server!

Thank you guys soooo much! It was very odd, it just started working. If you would like the paste bin, I could supply it. No idea what changed.

Hello all, im experiencing the same problems and tried all the above. My server of which im whitelisted has just moved from minecrack to the ultimate pack. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have also tryed this on another mac and the same problem? i was wondering if anyone could help and as this is the only post i have found on the subject.

When in minecraft i cant generate a new world or play on my server. the screen goes black. was wondering if there are any fixes fro this issue. also is it an issue my end or yours?
