Big Reactor Turbine how to use all 2000mbSteam/t

I wonder what the transfer rate is for fluid loaders and unloaders.

I don't think Ender Fluid Conduits render their fluids, so it's probably better on the server than anything except Tesseracts. Though I know Dimensional Transceivers can also move fluids, I'm not sure what the differences are between them and Tesseracts. They certainly look a bit cooler in my opinion.

I have a hard time picturing you doing it with RC. BR chews water really quickly.

In theory, once you got a closed system going, all it would take is proper transfer rates to/from the carts. The same carts could be used to first pick up steam, deliver to the turbine, then fill the same tank with water to be delivered back to the steam source. It would be an interesting build, for sure. Something that, if possible, would be a sight to behold.

Definitely have to give it a try. Maybe use some portable tanks as buffers for the fluid, and one cart per intake/output. Definitely get back to you guys on this one.

I now got this working.
MFR Treefarm --> Charcoal --> Steam (5x MFR Boiler) --> 21k RF/t in a 16x9x9 Turbine. And I still got extra charcoal.

Now I just reread the thread and I saw you guys are also using Big Reactor Reactors to power the turbines. But you still have to get a steady income of Yellorite aren´t you?

If I'm running a reactor big enough to power a turbine, I'm using it to run three or four BC quarries. And all the IC2 Uranium I get is also being processed into Yellorium as well.

But mostly, I just use Railcraft boilers instead.
 
MFR drill + 6 lime filters = more uranium ore than U spend on energy
U can start even with 1k RF on drill

Yes but I don't feel that nuclear power should be an infinitely renewable source of power in my packs (excluding breeder reactors to some extent)

I acctualy did what @adamich does. Well last time I played in 1.6
But since this makes me feel like no other energy is worth doing. So I want to try this time not to get into this.
MFR Woodfarm is already to OP but I can´t make myself not using it.

So you Pyure are in the same spot. Its personal descion to not use this as something in your world. Thats what its a Sandbox game :=)

I actually liked your post cuz the setup is cool and I haven't seen it done before, I just don't play the right packs for it these days.

I came up with this setup by surprise. I did the Woodfarm and did not know what to do with my charcoal. Turn out that the Setup is super easy and takes few space. The MFR Boilers is 1 block each but they take a huge amount of water.
Its 2000mb/s So 4 times the amount of steam you get. I solved this by putting 2 EnderIO Reservios next to them in output mode. Not that framerate friendly because the water in there is flackering as hell but it works and I can´t see TE Water acumulator block shit any longer. used it way to often in my times from 1.4 to 1.7 :)

Oh a other extra Smielie ":)" so you don´t call me anything bad LOL

Out of curiousity, did you try to use the water output from the turbine to attempt a closed loop?

Its hard because BR has a different water:steam ratio than every other mod ever, but its available.

I started out using RC Boilers to power my turbine. After dumping inane amounts of fuel (in this case, Blaze Rods from my farm) into it while waiting for it to heat up (it takes so long), I discovered how much better the MFR Boilers are. They use less fuel (through my limited testing) even while at both are at temperature, and the time to become functional is not even a race (MFR by miles). Even when you look at material costs, five MFR Boilers are much more reasonable than the three RC Boilers it takes to run a max sized turbine.
 
The BR Turbine will output more water than it takes to make the steam if using MFR Boilers. You can do a closed loop, but only if you have the turbine set to void excess.

Thanks, I couldn't for the life of me remember which way the imbalance would go. In this case its favourable.
 
Tip: you can put uranium in a barrel containing yellorium and it becomes yellorium.



As to blades. 80 blades is the max and desired number. Each blade is moved by 25mb. So, if you don't have 80 blades, you will never move 2000mb.

The only pipes that work properly are XU as noted earlier and allow using one steam in and one coolant out. Also as noted tesseracts work better.

I have experimented with port locations and it matters not where they are on the turbine.

If turbine won't get up to speed it might have too many blocks in coil.

As far as I know a block making up the coil has to be touching the shaft with a minimum of a corner. Meaning 8 blocks with shaft in center. This is basically mimicking a rotor and stator.

Some of those coils and turbine setups pictured are all kinds of wrong.

There are some very excellent YouTube videos I suggest watching them. One very popular vid details the math and how the turbines and coil blocks interact. There is also a very complex spreadsheet with values of different metals to help calculate how many blocks of a given metal are needed for a complete (80 blade) turbine. I found trial and error easier than trying to decipher it. I'm on my phone so I can't post vids but I will try to later tonight.
 
I use a 5x5x7 turbine, and a 2x2x4 High Pressure Boiler. Last one I built put out about 500RF/t. That ran my entire base, plus a single BC quarry fast enough I had a ten cart long train that was just barely keeping up with it.

I find it more efficient to run a large number of smaller than max boilers than a handful of full size boilers and wait for them to fully heat up. Also, Fire Stones are the bomb for heating large RC boilers.
