The process is identical for both, actually. just means you dont need anyone else to update.

Yes, the version number appears on the zip file, and is the easiest way to tell the difference. eg. "MFR_1.0.5b"

I added the zip file to the mods folder, took out the old one and launched FTB, but when i tried to open my world, it said there were ID mismatches and it said that the MFR blocks were missing. How do i fix this?

Fed at it's max rate one reactor can supply biofuel to 20 max size HP boilers.

Cute sidestep of the fact that "max rate" means 9 unique items several times a second, and if it can ever power 20 boilers, it certainly can't unless they're already warmed up to max.

Actually it is only 9 unique items every 7.2 seconds. Will take many types of farms, but that don't all have to be huge depending on grow period of the plant. Automatically outputs to any pipe/inventory at 10mb/t, which is a bucket of bio-fuel every 5 seconds. The biggest HP boiler uses a bucket every 101 seconds, hence 20 boilers.

Those 20 boilers does assume they are fully heated. You don't usually scale your fuel system to the cold draw rate of all your boilers. You just scale your storage to allow for startups.

Go to this thread:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...s-mfr-23-powerconverters-netherores-and-more/

Since the pack filenames don't have version numbers. I don't know if they all updated, but for sure you need the core and MFR. I would get all the mods on that page (they are all in ultimate and I believe all use his 'core', so if you update the core you should update the others.

Core goes in:
FTB\Ultimate\minecraft\coremods

other mods go in:
FTB\Ultimate\minecraft\mods

His updates also require forge update 534, which is the last 1.4.7 forge release. Scroll down a bit on this page and download 534 universal:
http://files.minecraftforge.net/

The forge file goes in:
FTB\Ultimate\instMods

Make sure to either rename the zip files you get and overwrite the exiting version or remove the existing version of each item you add. Don't want to try to load two version of the same mod.

Hope that helps.
