Hey all! Work got NASTY and I got stuck doing nothing but work for almost two months solid.

So I was playing a bunch in January. What all has changed? What's better, what's worse? What's new? I hear a lot of people talking about UU and GT, has something changed? What's are the main modpacks/version everyone is playing right now?

Thanks, I look forward to some entertaining responses! <3

Yeah it seems as though everyone is playing Agrarian Skies, seems the questing mod that VSWE wrote is going to change the way mod packs may be in future, in that they all may have questing of some sorts. It really is that good, try it out for yourself AG is on the FTB launcher.

As for modding news I suggest you go look at BevoLJs modding news vids on youtube.

So Thaumcraft got changed a lot, I don't know if you were around for the update to Thaumcraft 4.1 where the research changed as well as the addition of "easy mode." Essentia pipes got nerfed a bunch and became more complicated with the update though.
Also, a new add-on for Thaumcraft got added called Technomancy made by our very own @Democretes which is very awesome. Basically tech and magic fused together as well as making essentia piping bearable.
Will post more if I think of more.

Oh yeah, @Qazplm601's friend is doing some new super hot texture pack for BC. I hope he does some textures for other mods too, he's so good.
Also, for BC, SpaceToad is at the helm again so the BC team is out of maintenance mode and finally making new additions to BC so super hype.
For Thermal Expansion, King Lemming is leaving modding, but that was already planned from the start, but still sad. Also, Logistics Pipes is rumored to be adding Itemduct support which is super awesome for those not wanting to use BC.
IC2 is IC2 Experimental...

Okay. Anything new with BC, TE or IC2?

Not sure how much of this happened since January, but here goes.

Thermal Expansion has become very popular as a core "tech" mod with additions like itemducts, autonomous activators, and a versatile power system based on RF.

Buildcraft has become slightly less mainstream. While the quarry is still kind of unique(Enderquarries!), the rest of BC has kind of been outperformed by other mods. For example, many players have replaced pipes with the aforementioned itemducts to cut down on FPS lag.

IC2 has moved on to an "experimental" stage, and for obvious reasons is now called IC2 EXP. I haven't played around with it much, but from what I hear it seems to be moving towards a grindy direction, with items having many components that each take multiple crafting steps.

Unstable happened. The FTB test pack for 1.7, very few mods and as the name suggests it's a very unstable pack. (I think that came out beginning of March)

Nothing much has happened as the main modpacks are still in 1.6 and some mod developers made a "final 1.6" release and making additions/changes in future versions, although I expect 1.7 won't get much love and the modpacks will be updated when most mods are available for 1.8, which gets rid of number ids and some other changes.

That would be an RC steam boiler, been around since 1.4

Nope, it's the new Refinery in Buildcraft.
