Some people would say that there isn't much point in making the map beautiful when you are just existing at the whim of the beast.

On the other hand, some of us want things to be pretty.

I'd like to start this topic to see what others see as options to get us more blocks.

Starting at the start and trying to keep these in order.

Smooth Stone : Philosophers Stone
Dirt : Philosophers Stone

Brick Block : Forge
Uranium Block : Crafting (LATE reward)

Products produced from blocks of master material stairs, slabs, microblocks, fences not separately mentioned.
For everything else there's the alchemical tome.

Anybody know a way to get some of these earlier then this, in a legit way? I wouldn't mind finding marble before burning a tome.

* THANK YOU ELORAM!

You have a mistake up there. You get gravel from sandstone not from gravel :) well you do get gravel from gravel but you get the point. also whats a Bulls-eye Stone Block?

I think the monument needs to have a lot more things on it to show off the different mods

with the current version there are some achievements which are just not needed, looks at scrap in insanity, look at the 3x beehives in normal.

that could be done but it is harder to get the items properly to the player, you could always use an dropping system

You could have a items drop from his claws or have him poop it out
yeah but you'd need an giant platform or give the player ability fly early on.

Not necessarily, the dragon can be on the same level as the player and u only need to build a bridge to reach it.

Forgot to mention that the philisophers stone was required to swap between regular, tiaga and birch trees. Forgot to include leaves.

Any other possible blocks I'm missing?
possibly alot but none that i can think of with my simple mind.

I a ma bit confused by this :p
how so? this are all visual blocks you can make? with uu philo stone and such
I am not too much a user of EE, I believe it is a bit OP. I tend to stick with technical things like Thaumcraft, BC and IC. although I use EE I dont understand all the aspects of it.

philosfer stone can transmute certain items in different items, like cobble to smooth and cobble to dirt.

Any block that you don't understand HOW to change that I've listed...

Let me know and I'll improve the explanation.

This is for on the FTB map, not for any other FTB world.
you should post multiple ways to do it, like mycelium is made from uu matter also.

It is... but you can get mycelum from a moistener earlier then you can get power into the advanced machine to get UU matter, and I'm trying to list the earliest (and not always the easier one)
what if people dont know forestry that well and want to know the other ways?

... let me be a smart ass here, just for a moment, please?

I'm talking to the one or two theoretical people who have enough time, while playing FTB monument map, to make it pretty. The few who will not just be placing cobblestone everywhere and calling it a day. If you don't know what you are doing, you just don't have the time.

I'm not writing a walkthrough on how to solve challenges.

I'm just doing my small part towards making the world more beautiful.

Introduce me to a person who is trying to make a beautiful map (where the designers are known for nuking the entire thing on a whim) with time enough to do it right, but would otherwise have trouble with forestry, and I will walk them through it myself.

I doubt you saw it yet, but on the other topic you made about marble and basalt I added a link in my post (which is in the second page I believe) to an addon to IC2 which adds UU matter recipes to them. This way you can have your pretty marble :D God I should get some sleep...xD
Also, just something to add, instead of just being general with what to do to get things, maybe add a bit more description? Example, those who aren't that familiar with forestry might not know how to use a moistener and might not get where to put seeds/cobble/stone bricks to get the mycelium or mossy varieties of those blocks. Just to add a bit of clarification would be nice to a bit more novice users :)

I might include wiki links here or there.

But while you are the 2nd person who said that it might not be known.... I've not seen anybody who does not know.

Wiki links would be the good thing. That way they can see an image of the block and decide if they'll like it or not.
