Hi, I have been running the Ultimate pack for more than a month, without experiencing any lag. However, I just added a biomass factory, and my fps dropped from 60+ to 5 fps, however, this only occurs in my base, when I leave, I hit 60+ again. I have an iron tank for the refined biofuel, and a xychorium tank for the biomass. Do these tanks normally cause lag?

There were a number of scenarios that would indeed cause the tanks to lag quite badly. Unfortunately I just don't remember what they were, Ultimate was quite a long time ago.

Opis is also not available that far back.

You might want to try duplicating your save, and going into the second world in creative mode and just fiddle with the newer stuff. Look for any loops, or lighting updates. Try changing to an opaque tank of some sort for the biomass.

Do you by any chance have a lot of BC waterproof pipes with lots of fluids splashing around in them? Think that if you had a lot of them around they could adversely affect your FPS, but like above I am not sure. Its been a long time.

If this is the case, try and replace the pipes with Liquiducts.

If I were to use only a few glass viewers/gauges on the tank, would that help?

I have deleted all the liquiducts and BC pipes in my base, as well as engines and tanks, but am still facing this extreme lag.

No. The way MC's renderer works results in everything in visible range being rendered all the time. Obstructing it with opaque blocks will not help, it will still render the fluid/blocks/entities behind it.

If it is a XY-craft tank then I seem to remember it being a simple matter to "deactivate" the tank by clicking the valve block? Or maybe you need to break a block(as far as I remember, all fluid data will remain stored in the valve block). You can try and do that to see if it is the culprit.

But I would definitely suspect something else is causing your trouble. Like too many mobs in a confined space, looping items or the like.

My sorting system is the only part of my base in which I have my normal fps. I destroyed everything in my basement (where all my tanks were) and am still experiencing lag throughout. I also just updated my graphics driver, and it is now running slower. Will moving my world to a server ran on another computer make it run faster?

Try and set your rendering distance really low and then explore around your base. This might help you locate the trouble spot.

Also I already mentioned this, but seen this happen so many times so just mentioning it again: make absolutely sure you do not have any confined mobs in a too small space. Be it animals, hostile mobs, villagers or whatnot. If you dont have a farm or anything running that could be the culprit, then try opening the F3 screen and one of the lines top left should say something like "E: 6/100.". This shows number of "entities visible/total number in render range". If the total number is larger than a couple hundred you should investigate it, find them and put a stop to it. Things like a TC node spawning wisps underground, Villagers stuck in a house having a mass orgy(producing lots of new villagers), or if on a server someone leaving a spawning device on without actually killing the mobs.

I did a quick scan using the minimap, and I only found a few bats.

I deleted some mods from the pack I decided not to use, and that helped a bit. However, I still suffer from extreme lag in my old tank room, as well as areas near where my tanks were located.

Behind my geothermals, I reach decent fps, and I have checked for any loops. However, my machines are also an area of lag, but I don't see any loops. My sorting/storage room is not receiving any lag, despite the fact that the machines are 10 blocks away.

It definitely looks like it's an entity problem. All of your shots with 1 fps have over 800 entities. The shots with the machines has medium fps, and over 300. The shot with good fps has under 60.

In all of the shots, the entities are invisible, so I'm guessing behind a wall/under the floor. Have you tried picking up the lamp btw? The lag seems to be in roughly that area.

You can also try digging in the various directions a bit and watch for when the entity count goes down. Then obviously they will be roughly in the middle of all of that.

Good luck!

They could also be out far away from the base, and moving to one side of the base simply brings them into loading range. I would suggest flying around a bit(if you have the ability, or if not maybe op your self and go into creative flight) and probe the area with your loading range. If you are having trouble figuring out how far/where your loading range is you can type in /chunkloaders into the chat to get a map of it.

An easy way to deal with them is with a portal gun. Put one portal somewhere up really high and just place the other portal under their feet. Let them fall to their deaths.
