Well I have not played since mindcraft 8.1 pack ( or was it 8.2?) and I just recently started up a server with most everything from the mindcrack pack but in 1.5.2..

Well I had a really nice automated peat farm on that pack and since I was having so much trouble with early power gen on this new world for 1.5.2 I figured I would make the peat farm again..

SO I just spent hours hooking everything up and getting it ready and then I go to put the last part into the build the Automatic crafting table and..... I was stunned to see that its gone.. Now theres a autowork bench and it is not what Im looking for at all..

I need the old table because I had the dirt, sand and filled water buckets getting pipped into a chest next to the crafting table for it to suck out of and make my bog earth..

Now this table can't take water buckets. and it doesnt seem to function at all like what I am looking for..TO be honest it seems useless.

What happened.. I can't find a changelog for buildcraft and so far I do not like this new table at all.

Any ideas how to replace the old auto crafting table in my build? I have a igneos extruder putting cobble into a pulverizer making sand sending it to a chest and dirt getting sent to the same chest and also filled water buckets now I used to be able tp just put the auto crafting table next to the chest put a redstone engine on it and pump my bog earth into my farm..

Now what..

Thanks

I think (but i'm not certain) the auto crafting table was from redpower, meaning it no longer exists in 1.5. You could try the GT electric crafting table, though i'm not entirely sure how it works. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, though there's bound to be something.

I just did some searching on my friend google ( he knows everything hes one smart dude) and looks like thermal exp has something called a Cyclic Assembler? I need to check into this thing Im guessing its new as it wasnt around in 1.4.7.. Also I think MFR has a liquif crafter thingy but Ive never used Mfr..

Will either of these work

Liquicrafter can do the recipes without a bucket. Just pipe water and the items in and one redstone pulse makes one crafting.

You sure you don't need at least one bucket in there?

But yeah, liquicrafter, it's awesome, use it.

It was from Buildcraft, and it got nerfed for no apparent reason. (Other than "NERF ALL THE THINGS!")
Their suggested replacement is the Advanced Crafting Table + laser, which costs diamonds and constantly draws power...

If you have Logistics Pipes, try the Logistics Crafting Table. Or install Tubestuff and use the ACT2 (which is slightly harder to set up than an old buildcraft ACT)

Just an FYI the auto crafting table was part of vanilla BC. Redpower had the project table, with blue prints and a built in chest.

I'm sure there is still a autocrafting table ? I swear I am using one in my unleashed world right now! It might be the mkII version though but I high doubt it ? I'm using it to convert wood into planks but I'm so sure that's the autocrafting table ?

There were reasons and I know you've read them. The existing implementation was bugged and unfixable. At least without turning it to a direct copy of the Advanced Crafting Table.

I admit that lasers may need a bit of a rebalance.

60% of the difference between the old ACT and the new one is the time requirement. That was not a bugfix, that was a deliberate nerf.
38% is not taking items from chests. That was mostly a bugfix.
1% is not wasting resources by constantly crafting until the output slot is full. That's just a side-effect of the new behaviour.
1% is by not crafting until something tried to pull from it. That was also a bugfix.

Set the time to one tick, and you're 60% of the way back to having a good ACT. You can't say that doing this would make it buggy and unfixable again.
Make it automatically use items from chests, and you're 98% of the way. (The old one was buggy partly because it accessed chests at weird times not during tile entity tick. This does not do that.)

The time requirement it to prevent it from randomly crafting half inputted recipes mostly. And to yes, to promote the use of the Advanced Crafting Table, which is as valid a reason as any other.

If lasers get rebalanced to be easier, then that makes total sense. As it stands most people are working around it with other mods and just ignoring the content altogether when possible. Which is a shame, because your ACT and the way you can make a shared pool of lasers for a factory floor is slick and I dig the visual.

I don't see how it can craft a half inputted recipe... you only one item in each slot to set the recipe, so it won't craft (because that would destroy the recipe)
The Advanced CT's reason to exist is... actually, why does it exist? Compactness?

Try crafting with half stacks like I tend to. I tried making wooden slabs and instead got a half stack of wooden buttons.

So use right-click to set the recipe first. How is it a good idea to horribly nerf something because its developer has a habit of using it incorrectly?

Because the "nerf" also happened to have the added benefit of promoting the awesome Advanced Crafting Table.
