Hey all. I'm finally getting somewhere with breeding bees, but I'm trying to find an efficient way to process all the honeycombs that come through - since they are cheap, I considered just making a bank of centrifuges, and dedicating one to each type, but it seems.... inelegant, even for me.

Right now, I'm probably going to go with a golem team, but would like not have to trip over the little bastards because of where the bee stuff is.

I tend to use more RP2 and some BC stuff, but I'm terrible with gates, which is probably why this seems troublesome. (I have finally gotten to a reasonable proficiency with autarchic gates)

I haven't tested this, but I think it will work as long as the centrifuge can keep up with the combs.
Have the apiary's output to a RP2 relay that is on top of the centrifuge and have the relay's output face the centrifuge.
Have the centrifuge output to a chest so that the next type of comb can be inserted and don't forget the power the centrifuge with buildcraft compatable power.

Hmm. Got me thinking, if that doesn't work, I may play with RP2 buffers (for something other than a component)

Thanks! Good suggestion, I'll experiment with it.

Personally I feel BC is always the best way to go for bees - mostly because of the apiarist pipe. Throw a hopper on there like you said, and you're good to go. Hasn't failed me yet. :)

I dump into a series of barrels (one for each type) with a marker below them and have a golem keep a relay full for each centrifuge (will drop to hoppers soon since processing is ahead of production). Works like a charm. Currently 3 centrifuges are blowing through the output of 19 alvearies and 30ish apiaries all on full automatic mode.

I would make 2 or 3 centrifuges and throw a hopper on top, then feed your RP tubes into that. It should give you room for 4-5 stacks of combs on each machine.

I probably over did mine a bit, but I was dealing with a bunch of apiaries.

I had the BC pipes from the apiaries and alvearies all lead to my processing area where an apiarist pipe seperated items from drones. The items then went into a buffer, which fed into a sorting machine. The sorting machine sent the combs to an array of centrifuges and any other item to my storage area. The centrifuges each had a sorting machine to auto pull out any item but sent the propolis back to the centrifuges, honey to the squeezers, and the rest to the storage area. The squeezers each had a sorting machine to auto pull out the propolis to send to the centrifuges.

If I ended up building more apiaries/alvearies, I could always easily add more centrifuges and squeezers to the system. I don't have any pictures of the setup at the moment, since the server I play on is in the process of upgrading today. I'll try to remember to post some later.

I am using BC pipes here so far; I've got a ton of barrels lying around and a few spare hoppers so I'll be tinkering.

Right now, I'm happy with the breeding cycling of drones - the handful of apiaries I have in full production are chugging along with no problem (other than I need to get some damn light out here - had a near miss with a creeper).

I probably over did mine a bit,

To err is human, to over-engineer, is minecraft.

I'd love to see pictures.
