Pack in question; Direwolf20 1.10.

In what range of depth will I find silver and bauxite often? I plan on making silver weapons (A scythe, primarily),and bauxite's my only source of aluminium, and I'll be needing that for casts, and likely, machinery.

Not sure but I found a lot mining at 12. Then I switched to the vertical digger? From actually additions. It gets a decent amount.

Well, that was quick! Alright,to continue on my previous question; I never even made scythes before,so this'll be new to me. Which Tough Rod makes the perpendicular grips on the weapon, and does that slot apply the material's handle durability modifier to the weapon? I plan on making this thing with a paper binding, silver head, and cobalt grips, with a (most likely) bronze haft.

afaik think it affects modifiers and durability. also : hold shift over the tool rod shows durability etc etc... i think...

I know that any part in any slot on any tool will impart its implicit traits on the completed product, such as cobalt's speed enhancers, and I know that holding shift will show me the part's stats, though that's redundant,as I religiously consult Materials and You before I begin smelting. My confusion lies in the nature of the second Tough Rod slot; Is only one considered the handle of the tool? Or both? With a concrete answer for that,I can set out to build this thing with confidence. Oh,and secondary question; Besides steel, what other easily obtained material can outmatch bronze in terms of general purpose excellence?

think both considers as a rool rod... sorry for the confusion.
never prodded with all the tinkers combining before so i can't answer your steel question.

Last time I did, it, the handles were the top slot, though you can experiment with a cheap wood/stone tool rod combo to work it out if it's changed. They both use rod modifiers.

If you use clay, you lose the mold after each use, but for things you'll only want one of, like the Scythe blade, that'll save you some material instead of casting it all from Aluminum Brass, or Gold, which you can also make molds out of.

Chunkbase has a biome mapper for 1.7.10, but once you start modding (especially with things like ExtraBiomes), it would become less accurate.
meh, chunkbase isnt working for my world, and its hardly modded, for 1.6.4 i used "pioneer terrain survey" that worked perfectly, but its not available for 1.7.10+

So,Direwolf20 1.10 pack,again.

The IC2 Blast Furnace; How does it work? I want low-tech steel, but it doesn't seem to be building up heat. I have it rigged to a tin cable,to a BatBox,to a coal-burning generator. There's an orange square on the front of the machine.

Unless they've changed something, you need a heat generator of some sort hooked up to that orange square.

Alright,I set up an Electric Heat Generator with three coils in it,and configured the blast furnace with the heater appropriately. The furnace takes heat perfectly. However,it will not convert iron to steel. According to JEI,I can use iron ingots,or any form of crushed/macerated iron to make it,but the furnace doesn't begin processing. There's a fluids slot in the blast furnace, but JEI doesn't say anything about it. What am I missing, here?

Are you dedicated to using IC2? Immersive Engineering has a nice way to make steel as well.

I played IC2 waaaaaay back in the day (Equivalent Exchange 1 sort of back in the day),so I know how a good chunk of it works. The reason why I jumped on IC2 for the steel was because it was low-tech; I don't need to go to the Nether (Railcraft),or get lucky with a villager trade for some ringmail (TCon/Vanilla),if I go for IC2 steel.

Now,I'd like to know how to produce steel via the IC2 Blast Furnace, but if IE has a method to make steel without me prancing off into the Nether, that'd be grand. Do I need to go to the Nether for IE steel? And are there any mechanics involved in getting said steel that aren't covered in JEI or manual menus? Also, yes; How in the blue blazes do I get my IC2 Blast Furnace to make me some damn steel?

IC2 blast furance also requires compressed air cells to make steel

I did some research, and did not find that info. However, what I did find was that it takes 300 seconds to make an ingot. Whoops; I was just giving it ten seconds.

Last time I set one of these up, I also had a compressor to make the air cells. Pretty cheap, IIRC, but it is indeed slow. (However, so is the Railcraft solution - which takes 9x more space...)

Question: I remember a few versions back there was a discussion about the power options. Eventually RF was settled up as the default or unifying power structure. FTB, as I understood it, would convert all power options to RF. EU I think was grandfathered because IC2 is that one cousin that you either love or hate but wouldn't even try to change because they are who they are...

My question is this... what is this Tesla power system I'm hearing about? What happened the one RF power? All Hail RF.

I'm pretty sure Tesla used to be the universal power system for 1.8+ before Forge added RF internally

I've been playing modded since 1.6.4 and I hadn't heard anything about it... Which is why I asked. I couldn't even name a mod that runs off of tesla based power.

So,I went for IE steel,because god damn,the IC2 coal-fired generator is insatiable!

So,how do I pull creosote oil from the IE fluid tank,if I'm inputting from the top? I currently have two pieces of pipe leading to an input-configured fluid pump (Powered and levered),with a single piece of pipe coming from an output-configured face of the pump, into an EnderIO fluid tank, configured to pull from the pipe. And it ain't working. And I've run out of ideas.
