Hi all, Im very new to this mod, and i was wondering if you could tell me what the purpose of the essence bag was for? I tried putting ars magica items in the pouch but they wouldnt go in. sorry if this is in the wrong location. Thanks in advance!

Used to be for holding spare essences for when you didn't want to hold a half dozen stacks of things for your big spells. Now? Your guess is as good as mine.

Hey, I didn't try this but I think you could use Projectile > Contingency: Heal/Damage/Health > Self > what ever you like for example entangle / blind / ignite / firestorm / blizzard / ...
It should apply the contingency effect on the person you shot and he should proc when the condition is met

This is a fun one I like to call
Tossed Salad:
Projectile/Zone/Radius/Radius/AOE/Fling

If you have more mana to burn you can do:
Projectile/Zone/Radius/Radius/AOE/Fling/Velocity Addedx3/Gravity Well

On a full cast this will fling everything in a decent radius into the stratosphere and then suck them down to merge with the earth below. Kill's endermen in one shot and its kinda fun to watch them hurled skyward. On diminished casting something might survive its first trip up but get caught in a second that its all over.

Btw on experimentation putting radius after the AOE doesn't seem to have any effect for damage spells but putting it after the zone and before the aoe seems to affect it

Test Spell #33 AM2 v 1.1.12
Projectile/Zone/Radius x3/Duration x3/Beam/Range/Starstrike
Mana Cost: 96.00/384.00/1920.00

Observation: (Half Moon/Normal Cast)
Spell travels as projectile, and creates a medium zone (aprox 4 metres across).
Stars fall in a range of about 20-32 blocks from the center of the zone. Radius enhancement effects were only noticed at a Full Moon Cast, but strongly recommend not using Radius in copies of spell.
Duration and Radius does not impact Mana Cost for Zone. Range is exponential in Mana Cost on Beam. Without one Range, the Beam seemed to behave more like a Touch or AoE.
Also noted, Zones seem to scale their effects to Caster's current Cast State (Wane/Half/Full Moon Cast), not to the state they were cast. (E.G. Cast, Press C. Zone uses Normal Cast Duration, but Augmented cast for each Starstrike)

Interesting mechanic from the Disarm component allows for
Ender Silk-touch:
Touch/Projectile > Astral Distortion > Disarm > Magic Damage > Damage x3

Wait for a unsuspecting Enderman to pick up Grass / Mycelium then cast this spell on them, you get the block without need for a silk touch tool.

Possibly more of an early game spell, so remove the damage x3 and kill them the old fashioned way if need be.

When used with augumented costs 24k mana and gives 9 min chrono anchor. on half moon costs 2,7k and gives 1:45 chrono anchor. Great support spell

I just found out about how beautiful Projectile + Wizard's Autumn is. I don't miss Treecapitator on this server anymore, and it gives me a ton of experience too.
I can't even begin to imagine how amazing casting it on augmented mode with three radius modifiers would be.

What is the point to that spell? Every time you cast it then take damage, you entangle, blind, and disarm yourself? Wouldn't this kind of backfire, or am I not understanding the Cont. damage effect right? And as for reducing mana cost, if I understand Rhyssia's mana chart thing correctly, then AOE multiplies the mana cost by 10, and each radius multiplies by 2.5. So perhaps take out a radius or two? Or maybe a Freeze/Slow combination instead of entangle. That might reduce the cost. Or maybe I just don't understand the mana cost chart at all, and that won't do anything.

A helpful spell that I use quite a bit:

Self
Haste
Swift Swim
Any other positive buff you want
Duration x3

When I have just Haste and Swift swim, cast on augmented, it costs 3k mana. I get 10 minutes of Speed 3 effect, and 13 minutes of Swift Swim 3 effect. Combined with Haste enchant from Thaumcraft, I move pretty fast, even if I'm in water. The Field of View does kind of get weird though. If you don't want the FoV to go all weird, just cast on diminished. It gives ~10 seconds of each, and only costs 30~ mana.

Cont. Damage applies that spell when you are damaged. So say I had AoE -> Firestorm. If I had Cont. Damage -> AoE -> Firestorm, It would apply that the first time after the spell was cast that you are damaged. This can be useful if you want to murder whoever killed you with Cont. Death or heal yourself after you are hurt with Cont. Damage.

Yeah, I know that. But, with the spell he created, wouldn't he just get caught in the entangle/disarm/blind spell? Doesn't that just kind of ruin the point? Unless he had a dispel spell that got rid of the effects, but in my experience, dispel doesn't seem to work. Unless I just don't use it right.

Huh. It's supposed to have an AoE shape where all these debuffs are applied. But you got me thinking actually. I gotta test this in a separate creative world.

I guess I was wrong. I just tested in a creative world, and even though I was in the AoE range, it didn't affect me. Neat. That could allow you to get a quick escape if you get hit really hard.

Kaiomann's spell cost would work like this

Augmented Cast
Cont. Damage (10) x No ability (0) = 0
AoE (4 + 4[Radius Mods +1]) x [Entangle (80[20x(3+1)]) + Blind (80[20x(3+1)]) + Disarm (130) + Mana Drain (20)] x Radius Mods (7.5[2.5x3])
or... ((8 x 310) x 7.5) = 18600 mana
Taking away one radius would make it cost...
((7 x 310) x 5) = 10850
Removing blind would further reduce it to...
((7 x 230) x 5) = 8050

If you want a REAL nice regen spell...

Normal Mana Cost = 67.5
Projectile+Pierce+Pierce+Pierce (0)
Zone+Duration+Duration+Duration (0)
Self+Heal+Heal Enhancement (.5 x 135 x 1)

At 202.5 mana for full cast it lasts forever. the Projectile pierce is to bury the zone somewhere so another mage can't just cast dispel on it.

I just don't know why you wouldn't use contingency death if you wanted to have a spell go off when you die, rather then use contingency damage.

I'm assuming they wanted that spell to go off when they got hit. Assuming it wasn't a skeleton (out of range) or a creeper (take revenge on...the dead) that would cause the Cont. Damage to trigger.

You need a relatively high level crafting altar for this one, but it's really fun in multiplayer.

Projectile | Entangle | Slow | Disarm | Self | Leap | Haste | Featherfall

I call it hit 'n' run. Hit your "friend" when they're holding something valuable, and proceed to jump 400 meters into the sunset after stealing it.
