Are chunk loaders safe to use? The error log showed chunk loaders were involved in the corruption.
Yesterday my mystcraft world became corrupt and I lost my power systems and my mace ration and induction factory.
I have created a base in the overworked and I was wondering if chunk loaders are safe to use or do I risk chunk resets or corruption?

My advice would be careful in Mystcraft. I've had a few issues in 1.4.7 with chunk resets in other dimensions using chunk loaders. Nothing consistent, it just seemed ages would decide to crash after a while by placing a chunk loader.

Create a new age with similar attributes and things are fine again. Didnt pay it much attention as it was rare (mostly in lava ocean worlds) and most mod authors are on 1.5.x releases.

Never saw any chunk loader problems in Overworld/Nether etc

Only after counselling. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use while under the influence of intoxicants or otherwise impaired.

They can, with no problem as far as I know.

But they cost a fair bit of resources, so you might try not to loose on the amount you can load with them.

Last I checked, this was still a known issue. If you use chunk loaders, don't let them overlap for now.

Also, there are several things that can cause chunk resets. Chunk loaders, indirectly, can also attribute to this.

I believe that if a certain chunk has an ungodly high tick threshold, it will reset the chunk to fix it.

Having a large difference in tick between two chunks that have automatic processes going between them can corrupt a chunk and also cause a chunk reset.

These two are the most common things that I, personally, have seen. Though I know there are others due to mod interactions that are much rarer.

I've also seen a server bug that can cause a chunk to be saved incorrectly, I think due to a mishandling of packets, but I haven't been able to recreate it the few times I've seen it happen.

Are Chicken Chunk loaders safe to use on a RP2 frame mining machine? I've been having weirdness with my machines (in real world and testing world) and have yet to identify the culprit.

As far as I know, yes. But ONLY IF you set the loading area significantly larger than the area of the frame machine itself. Otherwise the frames will eventually try to move into unloaded terrain, and that won't go very well.

That said, I have to admit I just finished posting an issue with my own frame machine that was using a chickenchunks loader. The thing ran fine for a very long time, but now all the frames randomly disappeared... I don't know if the loader had anything to do with it... it's just weird.

I'm experimenting in my test world with world anchors (from RailCraft) instead of chicken loaders and things are looking a bit more stable.

If you are running dw20 you do not want to use chunkloaders and enderchests in the same chunk in any dimension other than the overworld right now, and maybe not even there just to be safe. It has caused a number of chunk resets on the server I play on. I've read that it has already been fixed, just waiting for an updated version of the pack.

This sounds like a big misconfiguration of your server. ChickenBones's mods generally play very well together.

It isn't a misconfiguration unless FTB ships the dw20 pack misconfigured to the point it will cause chunk resets. I doubt that is the case. More likely is that something isn't playing nicely between two or more mods.

This sounds really serious, and I've never ever encountered it before; I'm inclined to side with Kirin here..

New news!
Slay_Mithos and I were testing things and worked out that our chunkloaders were having no effect. We tried turtles and also stuff like wheat and items in pipes. They were being reset when we logged off, as far as I can tell.

Side with whomever you want. There were a spate of new chunk reset bug posts that occurred after the last major modpack refresh, most of them ultimate and dw20.

I think it kind of silly to assume it is a server misconfiguration when the overall server configuration is static. It doesn't change. What did change? Modpack update. New versions of the mods interacting in perhaps unforeseen ways causing problems, not exactly an unheard of event, is it? :)
