No-one tell Azanor or we'll have to use golems for lighting too.
like you light them on fire and they run around all scared and on fire?

On second thought, tell Azanor!like you light them on fire and they run around all scared and on fire?
Should work exceptionally well with the tallow golem =)like you light them on fire and they run around all scared and on fire?
The particles from arcane lamps are quite infrequent. I would be very very surprised if that were the issue.Let me explain what Arcane Lamps do. They themselves act as a single light source, however when placed they also place down multiple invisible light sources around it in about a 10-20 block radius around it. These little light sources are what give off those firefly particle effects, otherwise they're quite invisible and take up a block space until you put something in it's place.
Particle effects can attribute somewhat to your lag, especially if there's a lot of them and if you have multiple lamps definitely so, however if you reduce the particle setting in the options you should be fine.
Don't use the lamp \o\Is there a way to disable glimmer of lights from appearing?
If you don't want the glimmers of light, you have no reason to use the lamp, instead of just using glowstone or a torch. Is there a way to disable glimmer of lights from appearing?
One interesting thing about the arcane lamps is that they spawn their glimmers of light in isolated rooms. You don't need line of sight or anything. Dig a new room, and if it's in range of an arcane lamp it will eventually be lighted. Not so good, though, for underground farms that need to be kept in darkness.

would be nice if there was an opposite of the arcane lamp, that'd absorb any kind of lighting within a room.
that way you can still light up your base, but keep certain parts of it in the dark.
Doesn't work well with the Arcane Lamp, sadly. Apparently they end up fighting over how dark or bright the room should be.~Gaseous Tenebrae from Thaumic Tinkerer.
