The MV Transformer should not explode in this setup. Please be sure the line from the MFSU is going into the three-dot side.

I'll test it out
Ima give up if this explodes lol
Ok it worked! no more madness to make all this power, the ME network is fully up running, by the gods!

So that setup is being made in the nether or overworld?[DOUBLEPOST=1375378272][/DOUBLEPOST]
If I do that the MV transformer explodes so I have to do the HV-MV-LV link.

MFSU outputs HV (512 EU/t). You should therefor only need MFSU --> MV --> LV. The HV is not necessary. HV is used to convert to/from 2048 EU/t.

Yet, only the 3-dot face of the MV should touch or be powered from the MFSU via cable.

Try this:

1. Leave MFSU in place.
2. Drop MV Trans a few blocks away, leaving enough to room to face it and see the 3-dot face.
3. Connect fibre cable from MFSU 1-dot face (there's only 1 of them) to 3-dot face of MV (only one of those as well)
4. Drop LV a few more blocks away and repeat with the 3-dot face and fibre cable to single-dot face of MV
5. Connect Advanced Machines to single-dot face of LV Trans.

This is just to prove to yourself it works and can provide power to your Advanced Machines. After that, you can reposition MV and LV and make it more compact/tidy.[DOUBLEPOST=1375379644][/DOUBLEPOST]
Well, to conclude this mess, Thank you all for helping! I appreciate it.

LOL. Glad to help. IC2 "facing" is perhaps the least well-done of all the IC2 stuff. I love, love, love IC2, but facing and the transformers is not one of the more fun parts.

I thought the ME Controller could handle anything that you fed it through a glass fiber cable, so MFSU --> Controller wouldn't need any transformers.

He has other machines on the same line which can't take HV, if I'm reading him correctly.
Yeah that was in response to a poster saying he needed to hook up MFSU >> MV Transformer >> ME Controller. But on reading it again, I see the transformer suggestion was simply to allow another line of glass fiber off one of the faces, since MFSU has only one output.

The downside to Nether lava if you're using the non-GT pump (like I do) is the flowing it creates, which causes server and client performance issues (when your client is in that chunk).

If you have ExtraUtilities installed, you can utilize the Enderthermic pump instead, which replaces pumped lava source blocks with smooth stone, instantly, thereby eliminating flowing lava lag :)

Except that TickThreading and AE really don't co-operate well... That may have changed, but since this is an AE thread, its worth pointing out.

Yikes. How so? I can (hopefully) test that tonight but I need to know what I'm looking for.

I'm not 100% sure tbh. I used to play on a server that had both running, and every time I logged in a warning was displayed telling me they didn't play well together. That was back in 1.4.7, so it may very well have changed.

Ah. No warnings when I log in, and nothing of note here except for barrels. Which, when you have goodies like AE or MineFactory, you probably don't want to use anyway :p

Thank you for the heads-up, though - I'll keep my eyes open for any strangeness.

According to AE's FAQ TickThreading causes drives to wipe clean and worse

That's been there for a long time, it may not actually apply anymore. There are a few commits relatively recently that reference chunks. If anyone reading this knows how to trigger this behavior I would be interested in details, so we can confirm if this still happens or not.
