Angry Enderman

Hey guys , we just started a new world on our server.

We have 1 problem , we getting attacked by enderman even tho we dont look at any of them.
I was standing in my house crafting something for like 5 mins all of the sudden i get attacked by a angry one.
And the other guys have the problem aswell , does a mod do it? if so can it be turned off we didnt have it on the old map :/

We play with the NGT V8 FTB Beta.

Angry Endermen spawn when an Endertot dies. There may have been one nearby that wandered into a pool of water or stood on a bush/cactus, died, and spawned the angry parent.

Thanks mate that sounds possible , on the old map we had almost no water arround , but on the new one quite alot so i guess thats what happens.

AFAIK, enderman don't die in water, they automaticly teleport when they touch in water.

They still take damage though and tots have less health than the parents do.

They can also take damage from blocks they don't recognize as dangerous; such as cacti and Natura's oreberry bushes. The little buggers kill themselves and their parents seem to think it was your fault you didn't prevent it. It doesn't seem to matter how they died. Even if they jump in a lava pool, their parents blame you.

Happened to me last night with an oreberry bush. I was attacked from around a corner in a cave by an Angry Enderman. I never even saw the tot he was avenging.

They teleport randomly, so they could've just teleported into another water block and started a chain of damage if there is a lot of water around like the OP stated.

AFAIK, they teleport to land, always.

As per the Minecraft Wiki: "An Enderman can teleport onto nearly any solid block, exceptions being blocks directly beneath water or lava or blocks with less than 3 vertical spaces above."

They can teleport into one-deep water.

What do you mean? It's completely random, therefore the probability depends on how much water is in the area. The OP said there was a lot. Thus, it is common.

My own experience, it's not.There are millions of ways to kill a mob, with endermans, watter is just one of them.I think it must be another thing.

The tots don't recognize every liquid as dangerous.. so in terms of sludge or similar, I have seen tots die in those liquids without tping away.

I think the author potsed some place about this, dont quote me but its along the lines of fixing the thing where by angry endermen attack the nearest player even if he/she did not attack the tot, that seems to be whats happening here & yep happens to me often on 152ngt, so if I afk its in a 1x2 blocked in mini room with a spring water floor, more less same as your would do if on a server.

Exactly.

Also the Ender-parents that spawn do not follow vanilla Endermen parameters (from my experience). They are less prone to teleport away and they stay close and attack even while on fire. I've flown over an Endertot that was taking damage from the rain. With no warning the Enderparents soon spawned after it died and attacked me.

Ender Tots are not as strong as enderman, nor can they teleport as far, however their childlike minds are too simple to comprehend dangers like water, nor are they calmed by the light of day.

After actually testing this; I can confirm that Ender Tots just swim around in water until they die. They don't even attempt to get out. The parents don't teleport away from water either, although they will get out to come find you.
