Okay maybe I am just missing a step here, but I can't figure out how to get aluminum ingots out of the aluminum ore. Help?

I'm playing the mindcrack Pack v7...

Thanks for the help!

Yeah maybe you're mixing up

Aluminum &
Aluminium

You either get the ingot by putting clay or bauxite dust into a industrial centrifuge (Aluminium)

Or simply mining Aluminum, the xycraft ore.[DOUBLEPOST=1358114859][/DOUBLEPOST]
You need an Industrial Blast Furnace which is a multi-block machine, to smelt aluminium you need the multi-block part made from Reinforced Machine Casing's, so that the IBF shows a 1700 heat.

Yeah that's what i thought first as well, but she's talking about getting a ingot from an ore, so i'm pretty sure it's the xycraft stuff she means.

Morgan, did you put it in a furnace yet, not the pulverizer or macerator?!

You can hit "U" while your mouse is over an item to get all recipes it is used in.
Basically, R for Recipe, U for Usage.

Use the arrows on the window to switch between recipes and machines (top arrows switches between machines, bottom switches between recipes of that machine).

That will teach you that the aluminium you mine is only smelted into aluminium (no ingot), and has only a few uses.
For the ingots, you need the dust, that you get from UU, grinding bauxite, as a secondary product (best in an industrial grinder).
You can also use the industrial electolyser from various dusts, and even some clay.

Hope it answers the question.

XYcraft Aluminum won't give you aluminium ingots from gregtech.
Aluminium dust from Industrial Elextrolizer can be also smelted in Railcraft Blast Furnace.

In fact, since you need a Railcraft Blast Furnace to make an Industrial Blast Furnace, that's probably how you'll end up smelting your first aluminium anyhow.

That said, clay dust happens to be renewable in a variety of ways, and also gives you lithium, which you'll want/need for lithium batteries. Among other things, you can use those guys to substitute for Energy Crystals (!) in MFEs.

Ironically Bauxite is really more important for its Titanium, which can't be produced through the clay process.

Ah, my apologies, I forgot about doing that.

Grr... making tungsten requires 6 advanced casings, which means two batches... and a dab of Iridium. Probably better to make one grinder first, then worry about that... Er, sorry, just talking to myself.

As an extra bit of fun, I recently learned that the Extra Bee that gives clay is actually really easy to breed. Going to have to set that up myself- far easier than mycelium centrifuging, and quite possibly faster too.
