I logged in the other day to find all non-avatar images to be broken, and after a bit of investigation, I've narrowed it down to just Imgur. Is that an imgur fault or forum fault, and it that just on my side? If so, how would I fix it?

I cannot get the link(derpy browser) so I'm gonna post the quotes.
Am I the only one that have issue with viewing imgur pictures(and possibly others) embedded on the site?

It happens for me too. My browser shows a small blue square with an white question mark in it, but if I try to reply the picture will look fine in the reply. Weird. Also I can see avatars without any problems.

Yeah that is the exact same problem I am having. Have tried several browsers. Have cleared cookies, cashe etc. Updated whatever I could think of. Nothing seems to help. Sounds like its on Imgurs end.

P.S.: who should I ask to unite this and the other post?

As far as I can see it is only images from Imgur that's an issue, and it is only a problem when you are redirected to the image from the forum.

Like if an image is embedded it doesn't work. If I right click on it and "View image"(goes to the direct url of the image) it doesn't work. If I refresh the direct image url page it doesn't work. If I put my cursor in the url on the browser and press enter(or copy the url and paste it) it works just fine!

Example:

Doesnt work..

Doesnt work...

Copy and paste this: http://i.imgur.com/78DY6BL.png
and it works.

@rhn now it worked!

Also:
I've been experiencing this for the last few days. I do most of my reading on my phone, so I just assumed it was connection related. I have noticed that pics that have been quoted show up without issue. Odd, indeed.
And Xavion says that it may not be a issue of here specifially
I don't think it's an issue of here specifically, I've seen similar things happen on other xenforo forums before.

I filled in a help request on Imgur with the details of the issue. But I am practically a complete novice when it comes to matter of this nature. Maybe someone like @Captainnana could help look into what is going on?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd be happy to try to clear this up. This forum has been blocked from hotlinking due to abuse of the Imgur tos, which prohibit using Imgur as a content delivery network. That means that website elements such as buttons, banners, avatars, frames, image libraries, etc. cannot be hosted on Imgur. While we welcome users to share Imgur content with forums, we found that they were in violation of the ToS by Imgur as a CDN, resulting in the block. A workaround might be to use the Imgur embed unit to share Imgur images, if your forum allows it. This article contains more information on embed links:https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/204766005-Image-Album-Embed
Please let me know if you have any other questions; I'd be happy to help.

Best,

Sara

Lol what?
Are they saying they aren't a site meant to be used to host images? That they are image sharing site. Where you can upload content and share with other users of imgur, yet not share it with other people else where?
That sucks then. I totally misunderstood what their site was for. Guess I can close that account.

Yep, also from their ToS:
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.
I guess we need to find another site to host our images..

This is BS... The whole Imgur system is set up to function as a way to store images you link to from elsewhere. It even provides BBCodes for your pictures etc... It has galleries you can collect the images in and link to... Everything screams "We are an image hosting site, come use us"...

Yep, that's very true.

If they did not want to be a image hosting site, then why are there all these options other than the top green button?

Aaaaannnddd, I can no longer upload pics to Imgur now :p

EDIT: Just noticed the HTML code thing lol...

What would be a good image hosting site?

I was using photobucket before imgur. I never really felt right using them either. I already deleted my imgur account. I was never much for the temp hosting sites.

I would like to get a good site for hosting my images.

I imagine the reasoning behind this stance from Imgur is due mainly to ad revenue. I've no doubt their legal department agrees whole heartedly, as this likely provides cover from some unsavory users, but ad revenue is the reason that stands out in my mind.

If you link the image directly, viewers will never go to the Imgur pages, never count on a traffic ticket, and never help pay the bills. Where as, if you link an album or provide a link to the Imgur pages, they get credit for an IP viewing the page, and can charge advertising accordingly. When in doubt, follow the money.

I'm honestly not sure why they would provide the links that violate their own Terms of Service. Any images I've ever linked to Imgur have used the links provided by the site itself. Granted, my library is miniscule (manybe 4 albums of a dozen pics at the most) compared to some of our users, but my primary reason for using their site was to be able to reliably post pictures on the forums. If this is no longer an option, they have not only lost my business (as a way to attract viewers, which pays them via advertising revenue), but my opinion of them has degraded to a point where I will discourage others from using their site as well. I know I'm just a drop in the bucket, but even small drops ripple.

I believe it's more regarding us using imgur images in the page content such as buttons or logos as they say. I'm not sure how our site would have been flagged up for this as we don't do that for any buttons or any elements loaded on every page. It's possible that it's been flagged because we use a lot of images in posts including news posts on our homepage but I can't imagine imgur would have an issue with images being used in forum posts.

EDIT: I've just wrote to imgur to see if we can get this sorted

Could it possibly be peoples use of Imgur hosted images in signatures that have triggered it?
