Hi folks,

Turning to the more experienced players on the FTB forums for something I cannot seem to get my head around. My "problem" is as follows.

I'm running an MFR spruce tree farm and send the wood off to be stored in a DSU, which is connected to my ME-network using a storage bus. What I'd like to do is set up my ME-network so that all of the spruce wood is sent to a powered furnace to be converted to charcoal. So far so good.

What I'd like to have installed, however, is a system that tells the ME-network to stop sending spruce wood to the furnace once the number of spruce wood reaches a certain level (e.g. 2048 wood). I now that the level emitter is used to accomplish this but what I cannot figure out is where I should install the level emitter. Should I "attach" it to the storage bus on the DSU or elsewhere?

If anyone would be able to provide some insight and support in this, it'd be much appreciated. If at all possible, an SS would be marvelous.

Thanks a bunch,
Bel*.

I have used the level emitters a few times. You can connect it Anywhere on the AE network. You then point the signal, by clicking with a wrench, at the block you want the signal to hit. In my case I pointed them at import and export busses. Set the emitter to turn on when the quantity is at or below the target number. Set the export buss to turn off if it receives a redstone signal (or the opposite).

I believe this is what you want. It sends spruce logs into the powered furnace when there is more then 2048 logs inside the DSU. The level emiter is pointed at the export buss and is set to activate a redstone signal when there is 2048 or more spruce wood inside the system. The export buss is set to be active when when a redstone signal is present.

If you only want to store 2048 wood, there's a somewhat simpler solution. Switch the DSU for 2 barrels, each with a storage bus. Prime each with at least 1 piece of wood, and raise the priority on both buses to anything higher than 1. Then set up an export bus on a furnace for wood, with default priority of 1. It'll fill the barrels first (2048 between them) then anything else gets cooked.

You can also attach the emitter to the furnace and set it to operate only with redstone signal so that the export bus keeps 64 wood all the time and smelts it only when you have above 2048 wood in your network.

All you have to do is put the level emitter facing the export bus that you have attached to your powered furnace, place the spruce wood into the item slot and say "emit when above", with 2048 as your condition. Set the export bus to "active without signal".

When your system goes to 2048 or below 2048 spruce wood, it should activate the level emitter, sending a signal to your export bus, thus turning it off.

Do export busses have adjustable priority now? They didn't used to.

Another option, for more precision control of charcoal output, is to point the emitter at the powered furnace and just leave it dedicated to logs as it will remain full when off.

They've had adjustable priority as long as I've used AE, it just wasn't in the GUI until recently. Had to shift-right click with a wrench (I think).

Only storage buses & drives had priority in rv9.

bus priority is new.
