Hi,

Anyone who plays the Direwolf20 pack knows that Decocraft isn't in the pack. So, I'm here, making a post, asking for it to be added. As a builder, I absolutely love aesthetic mods like Decocraft. It really is a shame it's not already in Direwolf20. Most 1.10 modpacks now include Decocraft as a mandatory mod.

I'm sure all of the players on my server (and many other players) would be overjoyed with the addition of Decocraft.

If you support Decocraft being adding, drop a comment to show your support! Also, tweet @Direwolf20 on twitter, I'm sure with enough support, Decocraft will be added in no time!

Thanks for reading,
Vigilius

If you want it that bad you can always add it yourself. I, for one, would remove it immediately if it were there since as far as I've seen it's mostly for looks and my dirt hovel looks good enough as long as I don't see any hostile mobs in it :D

There are several mods that I add to packs that don't have them but that's a personal taste thing that I refuse to try and push onto other people's playing experience. In addition, many people have issues with lag and adding mods should be their decision to make.

anyone know what kind of resources decocraft pulls at all. Does it bog it down with a bunch of new models, or is it basically a free cost because they don't actually perform functions?

I play on a very weak computer, so processing power is always at a premium. Even if Decocraft doesn't pull much from the processor, it still adds a ton of textures which make loading the pack take ages. Beyond on it's own takes a touch over 10 minutes to load, and anything else added only makes that number climb.

Maybe once I've built a full base I'll add Decocraft to fill it with pretty things, but for now I'd rather keep the loading time down.

I posted this in context of a server. It's not practical to have a public server and add mods to it.

Also, what's the point of having mod packs at all if you don't want to force mods onto other players experience?

I can't see Decocraft using many resources if it's literally just models that perform no function.

Ok, cool. That's where I'm at as well. As neat as it is for me to build a baskeball hoop, I'm not sure it's worth a bunch of extra time on everyone's loading times. I can see why they'd omit it. It's really easy to add in a mod to whatever pack you're using, though, so anyone who wants it will still always have that option.

Edit: This was in reply to inaeo. I must have had the tab up for a while before typing :p

Not all Decocraft items are functionless. Most of the light fixtures actually produce light, and there may be a few container like objects that are actually containers. Granted, most of the mod has no machinery drawing CPU power, but the added pack load time is very real.

But let's be honest with ourselves, would it REALLY add that much of a load time? Maybe a minute, if that? I'll test it some time tomorrow to get an exact time. I'll load normal dw20 up 3 times, average the times, then I load dw20 + decocraft 3 times and average that time. And then I'll compare.

But I really can't see it being over a minute.

@Vigilius I think what you really need is an explanation as to why it isn't in the pack. Which is this, DW20 decides what is or isn't in the pack. Not the FTB team. All the FTB team does is build the pack and maintain it based on what DW 20 wants to use in it his lets play series. So short answer is no the FTB team will not include DecoCraft. As others have suggested if you want it, put it in yourself. Or select one of the multiple other packs that are available that contain DecoCraft and have a similar mod list. Another possibility is build your own pack for you and your server mates and publish that pack so it is easy for them to download. Which is what I've done. If you look at my sig you will see the link to my 1st published pack. Made just for my server.

I'm going to have to agree with Vigilius here. Decocraft really can't use that many resources, and what's the problem with a little added pack load time? Decocraft is a really cool mod that all of my friends (me included) enjoy. Just because you don't care what your house looks like, doesn't mean other don't care.

It's one of those mods that if you don't like it, you don't need to use it, but if you do like it, it's there for you. It's not like it's some essential tech mod that you HAVE to use to progress. I mean Chisel n Bits is in dw20 already.

Also, the same thing said about adding it to the pack can be said with removing it from the pack. If you don't want a minimal amount of extra load time, just delete it from your mods folder if you play single player. That argument can go both ways and really doesn't serve a purpose in this scenario.

That's just my 2 cents. Anyways, bottom line, Decocraft should be added for the player that loves building/detail.

You know DW20 is famous for building barebones cobblestone 9x9s, right? His pack isn't centered around making pretty things. Not to say you can't make.pretty things in his pack, but his focus has been traditionally more on learning/teaching how mods work (and sometimes how they work together) than making them look good.

Did you catch his April Fools joke this year about being a terrific builder then proceeds to give you instruction on how to build a 9x9 out of cobblestone.

If not watch this.. It is funny.

I was thinking about it while I was posting, but I wasn't in a place to find the link myself. Hilarious.

It certainly made me chuckle :D

And I think with a pack like DW20, which isn't meant to be a full kitchen sink ALL TEH MODS type deal, its really got to be an add-in-yourself rather than a take-out-yourself policy. When many people have been finding 1.10 packs causing their computers to struggle, the default position is going to be one of being more streamlined when it isn't something that the pack designer (or at least, the person the pack is designed for) has ever shown any interest in.

If I remember correctly, isn't Chisel'n'Bits in the DW20 pack?

If so, you could just make what you want to, instead of adding in another mod. I've heard nothing but decent things about the surprisingly low impact having multiple "chiseled" items in your world.

A good portion of my world is C&B. I haven't seen much degradation due to it. That mod will eat your life if you let it...
