A way to make street lights?

You could use energised glowstone in fluiducts/tanks and pump the liquid in and out from a storage tank to turn on and off
 
Will just repeat:

Project Red framed wires, any microblock covers you like, any redstone toggled lamp you like, and any lever/daylight sensors/redstone contraptions to toggle them all remotely.

You can build the lamps exactly the way you like them and to fit the location you need them this way.
