I pity you for saying that. Some of us are having a blasts in our 1.4.7 world and can't either be bothered, or have the time/skills to make a 1.5 pack. For myself, I want a mod pack after spending way too much time in other games in the past tracking and configuring mods, and not actually playing the game.

1.5.1 has got some AMAZING mods. But I do not, *cough* pity anyone for not being update don a game. But I have to admit I am pretty sad I spend many hours a week on my modpack but only a handful actually playing, lately. :([DOUBLEPOST=1368205439][/DOUBLEPOST]
I cannot wait for the 1.5/1.6 update the new mods/mod updates seem amazing.
So does mine lol along with efficiency V I love my drill.

Man I am so glad I haven't built a mining drill. Tinker's Construct and Modular powersuits are–in my estimation, of course–so much more engaging.

I agree, I also love multi tools that just do everything. That said, for things like Silk Touch and Fortune regular tools are still good. Especially the fact many modders don't like enchants on their tools means they'll probably get removed/fixed at some point.
I don't know if Tinker's offers anything along the lines of Silk Touch or Fortune, but if it does I will definitely look into it (or of course if they can be enchanted that's also great). There are also enhancements that repair a tool (some sort of moss I think) and turn a tool into a power tool, so I'm pretty sure Tinker's also has some options to make infinitely usable tools.

It can have Silk Touch, Fortune (I think), Auto-smelting, run on IC2 power......and this is BEFORE enchants.

I am currently pitying the people who haven't done a manual mod pack for 1.5 and are waiting for *official* 1.6 FTB/etc mod packs. They're missing out on some HELLA good content. Haven't checked out Tinker's two new things, Chisels and Daggers yet, mainly because MDiyo hasn't updated the book yet, but partially because of all the other new content other mods have. I haven't even touched 1.5 TE yet, or the new MFR features.......doesn't mean I'm not excited to, though.

Unless your damned pitying can help those mods update faster, stop doing it!

Now if anyone needs me, I'll be in the angry dome!

Well thats nice. The ability to enchant IC2 tools via exploit is gone in 1.5.1. Thats why I use Tinkers Construct now instead.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I used books to add enchantments to my tools. That's far from being an exploit.

Been itching for a better 1.5 pack than mine to play. Have any configs to upload?
And how's it been on that BoP?

It was labeled as such because everyone wanted to shut it down but most people didn't know how, and the forge authors agreed it was a bug in how forge worked with the anvil. There were a ton of anvil bugs involving the anvil in the 1.4.* versions of forge. They have been fixed.

So yes. Exploit. Don't worry, we don't think any less of you.

This and Enchanting Plus made it really easy to enchant IC2 tools. Either way, its no longer possible.

There are a lot bigger exploits in this game if we're going to go by the technical meaning of the word.

I definitely don't think exploit is the right word for something like that. Bug would be much more fitting. Exploit implies more of a full use of something, as opposed to an unintended use of something.

It was clearly a bug, but it was pretty clear to the community that the mod authors did not want it to work. That's where I personally draw the line.

I'd tell you that you can put together a modpack quickly and without too much effort, but this hasn't actually been my experience. I spent around 4 hours putting together my 1.5.1 instance with 82 mods. A good chunk of that was trying to resolve a GL error which caused some items not to render, but regardless, it took a long time. <snip>

What was the GL error? I tend to get them whenever I add Twilight Forest, or a couple of other mods in combination. GL #1281 or something. How did you resolve it?

Of course. I was just being technical.

For instance, I'd consider a macerator stuffed with overclockers to the point of operation per tick(?) macerating exploiting that mechanic to its fullest extent, while I would consider the soul shard anvil combining a bug. Sure, we can technically classify a bug as an exploit, but I like to be specific with this stuff.

You can't do the macerator "exploit" with GT installed, though you knew that already. I'll be sad to lose the soul shard anvil glitch though - now getting a T1 witch soul shard will be nigh impossible, nevermind a T5.

I disagree with removing book enchantability on IC2 tools, its not as if its OP or anything. On my old retro pack mindcrack world I had a sharpness V nano saber - funny how they patched it for some tools but not others. I am also REALLY looking forward to tinkers construct even in this early stage of its development, though I hope they nerf rapiers - I don't want to be forced to use it just because its so much better than the others. I'd rather use a longsword.

I'm very excited to play on 1.5. I built my own modpack, but keep running into little issues that I really no longer have the patience to mess with.

I never really got a 1.4.7 world that I loved, so sadly I've just not been playing MC for a while now.

Pffft. I use Thaumcraft wands for all of my shit-killing needs.

Those things are seriously overpowered with the right enchants.

It's not massively better but the durability hindrance could be higher.

Yeah, well, I don't. I can make a 4 chunk hole down to bedrock in a few minutes. Why the heck can't I craft an electric but manual hand tool that let's me break one single bloody block at a time with a reasonable speed and cut the blocks out unharmed.

Lucky for me and thanks to you, despite my reservations, I gave tinkers a go and being the hypocrite that I am, despite thinking it's annoying with its divine rpg approach, I realized that it gives me what I wish for: manual tools that do what you want them to do, which you don't have to replace half way trough a mining expedition(and which don't try to kill me via visps, just saying).

I am a happy deadpool, with a cobalt paper manylium pick in my right hand and an extended middle finger on the left.

Anyway, roads, I like roads.

If Tinkers can combine a pick and a shovel like IC2 did, I'll give it a look.

Frankly, my hotbar space is more valuable than the enchants that I'll no longer be able to slap on my drill. Much more valuable.
